Tax dodging Richard Branson 'should lose knighthood'....

Tax dodging Richard Branson 'should lose knighthood'..... along with the other Camerooon Knighted-Kids.
"The whole purpose of the honours system is undermined when the rich and the powerful can collect their gongs without giving anything back. It's even worse when tax exiles are given honours." Mr McDonnell said.
In 2013, Sir Richard said he was living on the island** because of a love for the "beautiful" location - not for tax reasons...... Rolling with laughter Big Cry Rolling with laughter

…and that would achieve what exactly? Would it make you feel better?

If you’re upset about totally legal loopholes or tax avoidance schemes for individuals and businesses, why not campaign to have the law changed? You’re liable to have far most success than simply resorting to petty bitterness and name calling.

If there’s something wrong with the system it’s needs changing. Thumbs Up

Fed up with politicians having a go at anyone who exploits loopholes in the legislation.

The ones at fault are those who draft the legislation and leave gaps in it. We, as taxpayers, pay their wages - we should hold THEM accountable. It's the politicians and civil servants who draft rules in a cack-handed and incomepetent manner who are at fault. They are the ones who should be paying the price.

And McDonnell is a left-wing malcontent who only wants more tax take so he can Censored it away on another hare-brained Socialist scheme. Socialism works until it runs out of other people's money.

Far, far from it - as Mrs Thatcher, and other now outdated Monetarists, told us - 'The Trickledown Effect.' will prime and oil the economy right down to the lowest levels.
And many rich people got richer, and spent more, and paid more taxes to maintain the infrastructure necessary for their businesses.
Their taxes went to Education to train the next generations who would work for them; to build houses and hospitals so that their workforce was fit and healthy, and when they were ill, they'd be back at work quicker and better.
These 'rich' people helped finance the Police forces, and a 1 000 other parts of the Community in which they felt a part, and people admired them.
Then some of the entrepreneurs who'd decided that ''Greed is Good.'' broke ranks and became Non-Doms, and so called Tax Exiles = Tax Traitors.
They expected other people to take the pain of taxes, but they'd take (?) the Gain of the benefits those taxes brought. (? = HiJack; Steal; ..)
Now in US(A) if you'd tried that cheating trick, you'd have lost your American Citizenship, never mind any gongs.
In comparison, Knighthood stripping is rather a restrained suggestion.... don't you agree?

Conveniently forgotten to mention how many UK employees the Virgin group has & the tax revenue HMRC receives from it. Laughing

Do I like RB? Not particularly, but he's taken a lot of risk and worked many hours to get where he is and we need entrepreneurs such as him in the UK.

Exactly - only by destroying money or items does it not help someone else, and then there is no incentive to do so. Hence, Richard Branson's wealth inevitably goes to help hundreds of other people even if he doesn't pay a penny of tax. Getting worked up at tax avoidance it is a bit like bemoaning a leaking colander...
