However it is a moot point as he donates all his income to Virgin Unite charity (which promotes entrepreneurship) and other charities, so would have no tax liabilities

My understanding is that income is liable to tax, any rebate would have to be claimed by the qualifying recipient of the donations. And as such would have to be registered and operating under UK tax and other appropriate legislation.

Can be done either way:

What does he live on?
Or is that, quite reasonably, after deduction of his living expenses?
Don't want the lad falling off his twig from malnutrition.

AAA Very Happy

Apparently he has more than a few quid in the bank from past earnings to keep him ticking over.

12 going on past 60 odd

Dodgy David will always be Dodgy David......Skinner got it right...quite right.
His own party call him "The Chameleon".....it would be rude not to follow suit
Wouldn't it?

I see above that Sir Branston Pickle....donates a lot to charity.....good for him & the charities that benefit...but I'll bet he's isn't living like a pauper on his own Caribbean island....
None of this exonerates him & the businesses he has & runs that are based in the UK have to pay taxes in the UK......or do they ?
Maybe he's in the Panama Papers somewhere......
The more you make the more you've got....the more youve got means you pay more taxes
Or you could do A Jimmy Carr.
I'm led to believe the Isle of Man is the favoured tax haven currently

Not sad....but adept & accurate in joining in the mud slinging....
I don't support Corbyn in any way....& maybe the situation of the cctv pics has gotten a bit out of hand
The bigger picture is that the Labour Party without a leader that commands respect means HM opposition isn't there to ensure the checks & balances are there.

Censored me BLF, just enter the words Branson & Philanthropy in an Internet search engine and spend a few minutes reading the results.

He's publicly pledged to give at least half of all his wealth to charity. That's the wealth that he made by using his brain, working hard and taking big risks.

No of course he doesn't live like a pauper and why should he? Although his cost of living on Necker Island is funded by the corporate and private guests who pay to visit it. Something else to fuel your envy and jealously of a successful entrepreneur perhaps?

Not a bit envious....he's made a crust or two....good luck to him
But even if 1/2 his enterprises profits go to a good cause still doesn't mean they are are tax free
Jealous ? Nope......I've done OK too.....& I pay all the taxes that are due...on the due date.

Maybe you've missed the point in this mail that whatever Corbyn has said or done has hit a nerve...

1) Do you mean ''Hairy Dan''?
2) Do you mean ''(John) McDonnell''?

Camerooon is a long standing nickname, and FAR removed from the image, and possible name, that Steve Bell has rolled onto him.
Even 'GidIot' for the dear departed Ozzy has been around for years, and turned out to be true - in Mrs May's eyes.
I think that you'll agree that these epithets are mild and inoffensive compared with some of the descriptions applied to (Cmrd) Corbyn e.g. Communist Thud

He gives all his current income to charity so has no tax liability, in addition he has pledged to give half his existing fortune away!

Not necessarily his ..he's the front man ...but the the description here is somewhat fanciful. I speak as one of the few here that has been inside Campden Hill Road on more than a few occasions.

I have worked for three "Sir's" ....did any really deserve it? taking away the question does anyone really deserve a title which elevates the complete Bull Censored in all that's wrong in our society...no really I don't think they did Neutral

Dim problem, the advantage of having been employee, self employed and employer at differing times and also a trustee of several charities.

And, strange as it may seem, the last one may well have been the most time consuming of all.
But also incredibly fulfilling ... Thumbs Up

Has Branson or any part of the Virgin empire evaded paying UK tax? If they have, that should be fined accordingly. I suspect that he legally avoids paying tax where he can, as he prefers to decide for himself who should benefit from his wealth. Which I think is fair enough.

Having said that though the UK does well from Virgin. How much tax has been raised by the UK employees of Virgin owned businesses, the VAT on the goods and services they sell, the business rates on the premises etc. etc.? I don't know the answer, but I suspect HMRC benefits nicely from the empire that Branson has built.
