It's rare for a businessman like Branson to respond to the sort of cobblers that Corbyn dreamt up on a train. They normally let it pass, no matter how desperate and publicity seeking the politician.

This may be the first of several clumsy counter attacks from one of Corbyn's political minions. The sooner that Corbyn becomes a historical footnote to what went wrong with this country's leadership in 2016, the better!

Just another example of small minded class envy from the left.

All because he caught comrade Jeremy telling a porky.

Not so much restrained as pointless. Thumbs Up

Agree, as tokenistic as the awarding of honours to the people Mr Camerooon has just done.
They are, at long last, being seen now as worthless as some of those who bear that honorific title.
Added to which is that many Tory Knights of the Shires are very upset about SIR P Green, and support his demotion to Mr.

It's called Utter Desperation, on Branson's behalf.
IF the Righties weren't so petrified that Corbyn IS going to win, they wouldn't spend a second, or a penny, on all this AgitProp. They'd have left it to their lapdogs in the MSM, and the (outgoing) NEC of the L P.
There is a very strong wind of radical change sweeping across ''Western Liberal Democratic '' countries. The Righties (Tory party) only hope of holding on to power is by sticking firmly to First Past the Post, and their latest boundary Gerrymandering.
Otherwise they're Dead Parrots.
In the days of H Wilson, the Righties could have staged a coup - and damn nearly did - but having alienated the Police, and many of the Generals, the NHS in a state of collapse, and BrExit heading for the down tube, that's a slimmer probability.

If someone was to very publicly portray part of my business in a negative light when it wasn't true, I'd do my best to prove them wrong.

I don't see that as an act of desperation.

Since when have you owned SNCF, or is it a Commercial secret, not even known to the French Gov't?
''SNCF is France's national state-owned railway company and manages the rail traffic in France and the Principality of Monaco. SNCF operates the country's national rail services, including the TGV, France's high-speed rail network.''

Quite so..... if it was a very small business, much dependent on a good local reputation passed on by word of mouth.
---------------
BUT this is a vast empire, which is being bashed everyday from every quarter. So to pick a fight, and use alleged evidence which may result in claims for damages from the passengers shown in the video, is OTT - even for a Showman.
The 1st Law of Holes should have applied.
A simple
''We regret any inconvenience caused to anyone, and are working to eliminate any future occurrences. (I have been in contact on the phone with Mr and Mrs Corbyn, and I will be making a donation to a mutually agreed Charity as a token of our new understanding.)''
Game, Set and Match to Branson.
And the whole thing would have blown over in minutes, with Branson coming out smelling of roses.

Branson is a Very Bright man - and I reckon he's fuming at whoever knocked together this piece of non-sense which is winning him no NEW friends, and alienating a lot of agnostics.
AND, he's being put alongside the much hated SIR P Green.

Knowing a few people that have been to Necker island, and having seen a fair bit of it myself, I'd say he is more than happy to spend his time there... He genuinely loves it.

Good to have a leading British businessman setting an example for others to aspire to.

There are many many Virgin staff that have nothing but respect for him and love how he treats them as his employees.

getting fed up with this constant bashing, especially from petty and pathetic politicos and have-a-goes who either have a huge dose of green eye or quite frankly don't have a clue how global business works.

Maybe those constantly bleating about tax dodging should focus their attention on stopping hmrc from using KPMG and the like to consult on the tax regs. They're the ones that make sure there are loopholes to be exploited by their rich clients.

As for Branson, let them man enjoy his island paradises, he, unlike many, has worked hard and risked all on the back of his own resolve and nounce more than once and succeeded.

Which righties and win what?

Yes, the right of the Labour Party are petrified he will win the party leadership contest.

Everyone to the political right will be quite pleased, if not delighted, to see him win that contest.

He almost certainly WILL win that contest.

Both agree that if he does, Labour with him as leader, will never win a general election.

So please, keep on championing him.

He is not a tax dodger though, up until 10 years ago he paid UK tax, muĉh more than probably most of us on this forum up together have paid. He then moved permanently to his island in the sun selling his UK residences, so becoming non-dom. for tax purposes, he still has to pay UK tax on UK earnings, not on his overseas income. However it is a moot point as he donates all his income to Virgin Unite charity (which promotes entrepreneurship) and other charities, so would have no tax liabilities.

My understanding is that income is liable to tax, any rebate would have to be claimed by the qualifying recipient of the donations. And as such would have to be registered and operating under UK tax and other appropriate legislation.
