If that's in the compressor, its a bloody big one!
Looks like a piston rod to me.Mark.

Compressor is just a mechanically driven mini engine used to produce compressed air. Pic is what was left from my D3 compressor having failed. Piston has snapped off the smaller end and big end has broken up. It still made all the noises but with no performance.
Sometimes on an older vehicle its just the desiccant filter that becomes blocked which reduces performance. Certainly worth stripping down your old unit to determine the cause Club Forum Criminal !!!
It just looked something like a rod out of a 2ltr Pinto engine I remember seeing after it was taken apart after letting go in a rally after the driver missed a gear and it reved to about 11k. Except that one had more bits missing and the big end was 90deg to the little end.Mark.

MacLeod as Buell's said, its no hard job really to change. Just get it up in the air on the jack and its only a few bolts and pipes. I personally and i now put my tin hat on ready for the do it propper brigade to get here lol.
I personally use a bit of light grease/lube on the pipes ends after cleaning them but before i fit them into the new compressor, just to give a snug fit on the new O rings inside.

Yes they are built into the fittings you will push the pipe into.
Thr pipes are a push fit into the compressor, you sort of pull the lip back to realice the pipe from the hole, like on the new type plumbing fittings, or truck air pipe fittings.

If you imagine one end of this fitting being built into the compressor, you pull the gray bit innwerward and it lets go of the pipe that goes into it so you can slide it out , all will be easy to see and work out when you get it loose and you will most probabally have to remove some blanking plugs from the new compressor.

I dont know tbh, it arrives today along with the invoice....It was a case of necessity than price tbh, D3 knackered without it and was lucky to have Nick at the end of the phone with one in stock.
As soon as I know I will tell you , now off out to strip the offending Pump

My FFRR Compressor packed in last week so had it replaced by Guy Salmon Thames Ditton, they did a cracking job and also replaced the rear wiper, replacement headlamp glass, osr central locking module £480.00
The service manager was in our NCT class so gave me mates rates
I looked at doing it myself but at that price it was a bit of a no brainer for me, dont have all the electronic jiggery pockery on the 110 thank god!
Get cracking today, the weather is getting colder from tomorrow onwards "you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"
