60K Service - and its still in there - Transmission oil leak

Hi, My car (MY 2008) is in for its 60K service today. phone call from dealer to say its got a transmission/gearbox oil leak (manual gearbox). Appartly the gearbox has to come out so they are keeping hold of the car.

They also say the clutch has a fault, and may need replacing and that would not be covered under warranty (car only purchased 6 month ago, with 12 month warranty so I will dispute that one). They did say if the gearbox is coming out and the clutch is on its way out then if I did have to replace the clutch I would only need to pay for the part?

Firstly whats your thoughts on a clutch needing replaced after 60K miles, and hs anyone any ideas on a new clutch cost?

Many thanks. Big Cry

Hi. Many thanks for that. They have said that if does need a clutch the labour will be free as they have to get it out to sort the oil leak issue so that's a big saving however I will be still arguing that the clutch should be covered too although I will need to check the paperwork. It's a dealer warranty through landrover. I will dig it out tonight.

It's worth considering fitting the heavy duty clutch, same price or cheaper if I remember correctly Whistle

Thanks, I will bear the heavy duty clutch in mind if it does really need one. Regards Gary
