I'm not Brown's greatest fan either but I have to agree, his speech was outstanding. I watched it on Wednesday and it's all power, passion and belief. Might he have been a better lead for the No campaign?

It's not 55 minutes though is it, I thought it was about 15 minutes?

Your talking about last week I am talking about today.

Re the SNP, in DT style:

YOU LOST, GET OVER IT!!!

That was long ago Del.

Anyone seen the video of the votes "being rigged", there is one showing a Yes vote on the No table and another of a guy changing a vote. Now call me a cynic, but if you were there watching this would you really get your phone out and video it or get the presiding offecer over to sort it there and then! Smacks of disparate yes voters to me.

It's also good to see that glasgow has made headlines all the way to Austrailia, thanks lads Whistle

Saw an Alex Salmond interview on Sky. He said, quote," Wrath of a No voter who had been GULLED by Westminster leadership" Shocked

Also said the "rocks would melt and Strichen Loch would disappear" before he would set foot in the House of Lords. Happened to be standing by the backdrop of the Loch when said. Got to admire the guy for that comment. It's about time the unelected chamber was done away with. Thumbs Up

Yes a good principled and life-long stance against accepting a peerage.

Just like John Prescott no doubt.

Well a friend of mine in the know down in Glasgow told me that the trouble was mostly between Rangers and Celtic supporters, the Rangers being pro Union and the Celtic being pro Independence.

Nonsense. IF it were the case this would have been all over the Sundays....the press love that old firm violence BS up here. This was a large group of pro Union/Loyalist thugs thumping anyone with a yes badge.

Pictures in todays Sunday Mail shows them giving the Nazi salute, dragging a female yes supporter to the ground and ripping the saltire from her. Eleven arrests have been made and police are searching through cctv footage of the area and promise further arrests will be made.

It's perfectly true that some idiots will have voted NO having given no thought to the politics of the decision but based only on them being Rangers fans and therefore should vote for the Union. Embarassed

A number of Celtic fans would have voted YES without giving much if any thought to the consequences as their support is traditionally anti-Union anti-Queen (all the reason they need to vote yes Rolling Eyes ).

That said both clubs struggle to fill stadiums these days to assume that the city of Glasgow vote (where over 400,000 voted) was purely down to which team people supported is wrong.

For the record, I'm a bluenose myself as are my family...we all voted YES. Thumbs Up

Looks like this thread is going to run & run. Dibs on 618 pages. Thumbs Up

To quote Wee Eck:

“I mean when you have a situation where the majority of a country up to the age of 55 is already voting for independence then I think the writing’s on the wall for Westminster. I think the destination is pretty certain, we are only now debating the timescale and the method”

Translated as wait til the oldies die off then try again. Rolling Eyes

“Then, presumably, you declare yourself to be independent. Many countries have proceeded through that route”

Or if you can't do it by the ballet box you do it by force, regardless of the democratic will of the people. As I said earlier, banana republic.
