Scottish independence
Hi all,
As there are a lot of non scottish people on here I would be very interested in you English/welsh/Nirish opinions on this topic.
I'm still on the fence a little. I know the good bit and the bad but what do you think.
PLEASE, THINK TWITTER, KEEP IT SHORT AND PUNCHY.

United we stand, divided we fall. Keep the Union but devolve more power.

As an Englishman I don't have strong views on it, apart from believing that all countries should have the right to a proper identity, and I can't help thinking what a pain it would be to change the union flag for the rest of us.
However on a business front I think Scotland needs a single currency with the rest of the UK.
For work I deal almost daily with two manufacturing plants in and around Glasgow, both privately owned medium sized companies.
Despite being proud scots who remind everybody they are Scottish companies, both Owners believe their businesses will suffer under independence.
Nasher.Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.
I just had to be the 1st...(& was too late by two posts)
I agree with the principle of a vote...this is democracy (which I would like to think we currently have)
however it shouldn't be just the Scots who vote...it should be the whole country, as the effects are to the whole of the UK & Northern Ireland (some good things maybe some bad ones)
I firmly believe the independence would be a huge error....to have a separate entity / country...despite the historical overtones that somehow the "Brits" stole the control.
If you read the history.....think about it till you understand in an unbiased manner as you can muster...the logic of the whole country vote makes sense. (well to me it does !)
As a comparison......partition in Ireland was done very badly & the results of this are still causing anguish & division...& will continue to do so
If Scotland is cast free...then we ought to have a home rule for Yorkshire, Lancashire, Rutland etc etcBREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Cry freedom my Celtic brethren.
We will be happy to make you a huge loan in about 5 years, at very reasonable rates too!!
Plus plus for us English, saves a fortune for the English taxpayer, destroy the Labour vote, and a deal for the City in 5 years.
Win win!

As a Scot living most of my time in Ingerland my view is if the electorate of Wee Eck's Republic of Jockistan are daft enough to vote yes then good luck to them.

If they do get in I might have a fully renovated Victorian villa for sale in Grantoon on Spey. Fully carpeted and almost fully painted.

As an Englishman who has lived and worked in Scotland since 1980 and married a Scot I hope and pray sense will prevail. Question is, if independence is voted down will uncle Alex disappear down a hole?Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Now that will be interesting. Realistically/hopefully back to good old Labour norf of the border.
Don't worry, not going soft in my old age. That's the least worst option.

In my opinion, most Scots are proudly Scottish but also proudly British with many ties to the rest of the UK which we don't want to break. Most of us will just keep quiet until September, ignore the dire TV debates and then vote No. If there is a yes vote in 2014, independence won't happen until 2016; during that time period there will be vast flows of money, assets and people from Scotland to England. I'll be one of them who will be leaving Alec's Socialist Republic of Debt and Parochialism to get on with it without me...Discovery 3 HSE Auto (2007)

The whole shower of them should in theory, disband and leave us in peace.....but I can guarantee you they will trot out the whole mantra about still "needing to get the voice of the Scottish people" heard in Westminster.... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
