No need to deport Georgie Boy - he already spends more time in the desert countries than the UK - given recent weather I am beginning to understand why!Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Take some time to listen to what in my opinion is a very elequent and persuasive argument for voting independence.
And I am by no means a fan of Sheridan's quite the opposite in fact, but on independence I agree with his thoughts here.
I watched a bit of this every 10 minutes and the first thing that struck was him saying an 'independent' Scotland can reject austerity.
He obviously doesn't understand the implications of having the pound as Scotland will have even less say in rejecting austerity than it does now, let alone the IFS view that Scotland will actually require more austerity than RUK.
Apparently it's not about a party or party politics...but that an independent Scotland will be de-facto socialist.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Would be interesting if there is a yes vote and Wee Eck does start the country's economic dawn off with defaulting on it's debt. How to really show credibility.

Can anyone explain why, if its an issue for the rest of the UK, we are ALL not allowed to vote and/or vote on what we want on a few key topics going forward?
Maybe the majority in England or Wales don't want Scotland...maybe the rest of the UK (who will be impacted) want Scotland to stay
I understand self determinacy rubbish but if say the Welsh will be worse off or be impacted - shouldn't they have a say?
People died for the UK, as we are keen to remember everything else, lets not forget people died for it.Mike

Even more interesting that ex pats like Sean Connery who bleat on about indipendance but CBAed living there get a vote but Scots living in rest of the UK don't.

I asked that earlier and was told it's only the people who are thinking of leaving who can vote???
Anyway, the answer is to immediately follow this waste of money with an English referendum to leave the union or not.
I vote we leave asap.

This thread is brilliant!
Got to say any scots who truely think thru would be better off independent... Um, good luck to you but sadly don't think you will get the chance to find out how mistaken you are.
But... Very big BUTT (bigger than beyonces)... Think the honest people in the rest of the UK are under no illusions that we would not be better off with an independent Scotland. Definitely think its in both our interests to not start being petty (the politicians that is) and cutting off noses to spite the face.
Anyway I will go back to just observing, don't want to risk dragging this back to too much seriousness

I think they missed a trick with this "no, an independent Scotland can't share the pound" issue. It allows the SNP to play the victim and call them bullies.
They should have taken a leaf out of the US book: when Canada suggested to the US that they both use a single currency, the US response was - you can use the US Dollar if you want, but we're only going to make fiscal policies that suit us.
That should have been the response to the SNP: sure, use the pound if you like, but remember interest rates will be set by the Bank of ENGLAND.

No, I can't explain it; I thought it was the act of Union? So surely both parties should get a say?Andrew
