Stopped by GS Stockport this lunchtime - they were most apologetic they couldn't get mine in before next Tuesday

My 2005 D3 suffers from really bad brake fade and has oil in the pipe but is out of the vin range for the recall?
How can they determine that the earlier 2005 models dont need the recall?

Something else odd is that I just put my VIN code into this website:
and it came up as being a "Model year:2006"? but its on an 05 plate?

my VIN falls into the range for the PO17 recall - I've not had any communications regarding this - who would normally contact you?
I bought the D3 in York but have it serviced by Yeovil LR or Beadles Sidcup

I only just got the recall letter for mine the other day, I guess they've got quite a few to get through so it could take a while to get them all done.
I would assume they will only send the notices out as and when they have the parts and time to carry out the checks and fixes in order to avoid too much of a bottleneck in bookings.Clive

2 weeks ago I booked my 08 into Pillings for them to investigate a sound it's not, but best described as a blowing exhaust.the noise became less audible as the revs increased,The service desk guy,Glen?Checked on his system and told me my D3 was subject to this recall and they would do the recall work at the same time and as the recall work could take 5 hours they needed the car for 2 days.As they drove away after comming to pick up the car the postman delivered the recall letter fromLR.
I have just got the car back.the service sheet said they couldn't find any fault with the exhaust.However the engine is now a quite as when it was new.The exhaust sound has gone so it must have been the fuel pump.Car came back spotlessly clean inside and out.
So a pat on the back for you Pillings Just when I thought I knew all lifes answers they went and changed the bloody questions

My recall work was done in one day; and I couldn't get it to them until after 9!
Ready to go at 5-30 although they didn't have time to valet it as a result.
Engine is now even quieter again than the last time I took it in for oil in the vacuum line (there was new oil in there this time just a few months later) and the brakes are noticeably better following the replacement of the booster. I didn't get a new master cylinder though, so I still have that 'notch' at about 5mm of pedal travel where there's a slight increase in pedal resistance.
The reverse dip of the mirrors seemed to have a major spasm for a couple of days afterwards, but seem to have gotten a hold of themselves now.
Now just have to decide whether to move all the fire extinguishers I had up front to the boot now I know the chances of an Engine fire are reduced Dr. Ian Malcolm:

High Pressure Fuel Pump Replacement,workshop proceedure
Hi There
Just had two recalls done by Lookers of Chelmsford - P008 and P017 one was a vacuum valve on the brakes and the other a high-pressure fuel pump replacement (it seems it is subject to bearing failure). Vehicle seems 100% except it stinks of diesel. The female receptionist at Lookers seemed unable /unwilling to go into any technical detail on how the high-pressure pump and belt is changed,and whether a new belt is fitted , (apparently it is replaced) . Can anyone out there shed any light please? There doesn't seem to be any significant dismantling in order to change the pump which is situated on the back of the r/hand cylinder head. I would be interested to know how the job was done (and what it cost).

Had a LR recall letter today re brake vacuum issues. Rang my dealer to be told that the parts were on back order and it was unlikely they could book me in before early December Has anyone else experienced this delay or is it Bull S t

Recall action on brake vacum
Just had my car done and there is now a collection of pipes at the left side of the engine block which I cant remember seeing before. I thought it was just a case of a replacement part and inspection, but more looks like they have "re-plumbed" the vacuum system. Is this the case ?

This is normal chap,had mine done and was the same.
BUT beware i noticed that mine was rubbing on the engine cover and would wear through over time so it was back in and i mentioned this so they cut out some foam to cover the pipe.
Its not the height of the fall but the sudden stop at the bottom that hurts!!
