Fault U1A4A - rear diff HELP!!!! |
|
Hi All,
I've got a 2008 Disco 3 TDV6 Auto, and a couple of days ago the 3 amigos (HDC/Transmission etc) warning lights came on, and the suspension lowered to crawl mode. The car was recently serviced and no faults came up, and has been running fine with no unusual noises or problems otherwise.
I tried the usual fixes (battery, brake switch) and when this didn't clear the problem took it to a friendly local auto electrician with a error code diagnostics machine.
He returned the following error code:
U1A4A: Invalid Data recieved from differential control module rear
Ã've had a search around on the internet and spoken to a couple of dealers, and have learnt that there was a software update in Feb 09 as a fix for this issue (mine being an 08 car I can assume it hasn't had the patch), but the stealers are telling me I will need a new rear diff actuator motor as well, plus labour, at significantly greater cost.
Anyone else have any experience of this issue? Is it likely to be a simple software fault or am I looking at something a lot more serious?
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi I believe the problem was the motor on startup goes through a self check movement into lock/unlock and the motor would be still driven past the stop point thus after a time burns the brushes out or some thing.
The software must be updated when a new motor is fitted or will fail again.
This applies to full fat range rover and sport also.
Hope this helps
