If it is the TC, you're looking at upwards from a grand, unless you can get them to fix it. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

I don't think he will as he has made very little if anything out of it anyway. I am hoping it's something else but knowing my luck it will be worst scenario. Are they bad to fit the TC ?
It's a big job - naturally, the transmission has to come out. Also depends on the state of the bellhousing nuts and alike. Having mine done next week. It is having a gearbox flush at the moment with new filter, oil pan ? and fluid as mechanic seems to think it could be that. Not costing me anything so may as well try it. Egr valves are blanked off as they found a receipt from 2011 in the very comprehensive folder of receipts. The only thing that has not been done is gearbox fluid and filter change so fingers crossed.

Well made it down to The IOW without any dramas. The car is great to drive but still has this niggle, it is not as noticeable now since the new fluid and filter was done but never the less its still there. I don't think its the TC but I have heard what sounds like a chuffing sound occasionally when I go in-between two buildings and only when the rev counter needle is fluctuating between 1700 and 2000 revs so I do think the two are connected. It has averaged 28.8 mpg on the way down over 290 miles at a very steady 70mph. I also noticed at 70 the rev counter in 6th is at 2000 revs but it was also then fluctuating between 2000 and 2200 and I could feel a very slight pull but not all the time. I am not overly concerned but when I get home I will try to get it sorted. As for the rest of the car Brilliant ! It needs a few little cosmetic jobs doing over the next few months as and when I can afford it. Tomorrow the car is booked in at IOW tinting to have the rear windows done in dark tint at a cost of £190. I thought I may aswel as I am on holiday and don't get much chance when I am at work back in Burnley. My wife is really pleased with me and said you should have come on holiday with the car, I replied I did !

I bought the first D3 I went to see. However I think I was just extremely lucky to find one that was well cared for. Still I had to get the cam belt done (and the oil pump casing, which I wouldn't have changed if I didn't read about it on here). That was the most costly job so far. Autobox oil change up next (as soon as I manage to wash all the diff oil out of my clothes from that fun job).
Don't get me wrong the car has been well cared for mechanically,it just that it has been owned by professional lady who did not worry too much about cleaning the interior or little bits of plastic trim. I have receipts going back to 2006 for absolutely everything from sun roof channels cleaned for £20 to new air compressor and rear air suspension over a £1000.There are 30 or so receipts for everything under the sun (except anything to do with the gearbox) Just to cap it the car has had 4 new Michelin tyres fitted in March at a cost of £630 and only 1500 miles done on them. I am very happy with the car for what paid. I just want the hunting engine niggle sorting.

Mine is doing the same. Going to try autobox oil change with some DR.tranny.
I have heard of other possible causes for hunting, fuel filter, fuel pump, injectors, throttle body needs cleaning. Failing all that its torque converter.
