ARRRRRRRGGGHHHH I have had a new rear propshaft fitted and the vibration is stiil there except now when I accelerate in 6th gear on the motorway from around 50 mph it says on dash board transmission fault some gears not available and an F appears on gear selection window. It then will not change gear at all and stays in what I would guess is 3rd or 4th. Also the vibration is now more pronounced and can be felt at most speeds. Is there anybody out there in Disco 3 land that can give a definitive answer as to what's wrong. I don't mind traveling to you if you can help me. At least then I can sort out to get it fixed. If you can fix it I will pay you to do so as the garage I bought it from have given up on it and I just want it working. It has just been remapped by bodsy but I don't think this has any bearing on it also could the new rear prop cause it to as it only started doing the no gears available after it was fitted ?

Hopefully that'll be the end of it then you can enjoy your car
Tom at Barley Landrover has contacted me as my car is in there and said the oil leak is from the back of the engine and is probably coming from the cam seals (I think he said that !) and the body will have to come off to find it. It is dry on top and is running from the top of the gearbox. The oil is black so not gearbox fluid. He has said it is not a lot of oil but will need doing so i have decided to leave it until later when I have a little more money. But the engine misfire and the near stalling at junctions is going to be sorted he has found that one of the injectors is faulty (which i knew because of my IID tool)
So he is taking them all out to have them checked and re-done if necessary. The bad one will have to be replaced with new I think ? Also just to finish off new rear pads are being fitted.
More money to be spent

This must be testing you Mark - it's one thing after another!!
Tell you what Richard I could have had a D4 by now with what I have spent.
Never mind eh ts only money. I must admit I am not sure about this reconditioning of injectors but he reassures me they will be ok. If they cant be done I will have to replace with new.

The rear camshaft oil seals can be done with body in-situ but it is mainly only main dealers that have the special tools required to do this. When I enquired about this, I was only quoted about 2.5 hours labour!
One relatively quick way of checking if this is really what it is is to check for oil inside the HPFP belt cover (which would tell you if it's the NSR camshaft oil seal that is leaking).
Your injectors don't look too bad. I have three running at ~1390 or so with no misfires! If yours is misfiring then, yes, it should be replaced.
Thankfully, injector 3 is nice and easy to get to, being located in the middle of the driver's side bank (cylinder 2).
As Bodsy says, genuine VDO Siemens parts are not available to recondition these injectors yet. It's possible he's using something else, but the solenoids and nozzles are not available.

Thanks Steve I will see what he says. If they cannot be done I will replace number 3 and put the rest back unless they are really bad, in that case I will replace them. On the oil leak front I don,t think he is sure hence the body removal. If he did take the body off what would you also do or replace as preventative maintenance ?

1000 That didn't take long!!
Preventative maintenance with body off - the list could be long & costly Your Mrs will give you a propper tongue lashing
I can see it now with your luck...
"Well sir, we've removed your body - it's in a right old state - it needs replacing....."
sorry not a laughing matter. Think there are threads about body off jobs. I've never had mine removed so haven't given it any thought.
