Again, what's already been mentioned earlier, there's usually one cared for example cropping up on here every now & then, I wish I'd have got mine on here now.

Yes I will be watching for one. The chap with the Metropolis has texted me saying it sold today although I am not overly bothered as it had a few to many faults for a novice D3 driver like me. I will keep my eyes and ears open over the next few weeks. I don't mind travelling to get one either if it's the right one.

Been there, done that, when we where looking for one we went to see some so called mint ones only to find them scratched, dinted and in poor condition, if we had bought one of them it would have had to go straight to the paint shop could not live with one in that condition. Keep looking one will turn up, looked at loads you will know when you see the right one, it's like finding your true love and as expensive

Some good advice so far.
Auto vs manual is a debate that will run to the end of time. Some like one, others like the other.
I have an auto, it's what i wanted and driving my bosses manual just confirms my choice.
SE/HSE is down to what you like, have a check on the wiki for the specs and see if the SE has all you want, or do you want the extra's of the HSE. Again, only you can really decide that.
I went HSE. Because that's the spec i always wanted.
As for the rest, i bought my car unseen, which was 200 miles from home.
I did all the checks, asked loads of questions and got pictures etc sent to me. I got the seller to send it back to the garage that did the mot to check how the advisories were. That got me a new wheel bearing and alternator.
Some car's you get a gut feeling it's going to be fine. I got that with mine. 40k later and nearly 3 years on. I feel mine is a good car.
I had to buy at the bottom of the market due to my budget, so it was a early HSE with high miles, so it was going to need cash spent on eventually to keep it good. Which as my sig shows, i have.
Buy one knowing it may need some work done soon after buying, and will likely need work done at some point. There are plenty out there so don't rush into buying a car because you want/need to.
I did that with a previous car and regretted it as it turned out to be a total lemon of a car.In loving memory of FA54WSK.
Just been to Oldham to look at another. It's was a blue SE auto at £7995. The car itself was a little rough and looked like it had carried dogs. I did not spend long as it was not for me but one thing I did learn was that only 3 months ago they were asking £10995 for it. The sales guy said that D3,s had lost about £3000 In the last 4 months due to D4,s coming down in price. He said defiantly a buyers market at the moment so fingers crossed I will get something soon.

I was on a lookout for 2 months. I was seating in few of them. Then I found the one; oh wait, my mrs found it and next day we went to look at it and day after it was ours. In spec I wanted and even more.
Wait and you will find it
Wish I had the luxury of time to choose mine. I had a week or so from getting my insurance payout to find, buy and collect a car before they wanted the hire car back. Saw several duds and travelled many miles looking before finally going to see this one, 180-ish miles away - private sale. Fortunately, it was as described and I was (and still am) very happy with it.Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Time has almost run out for me as I am going on holiday in the early hours of next Sunday morning the 5 of July and I am going to have to get a hire car as I have sold my other car. I really did not want to pay £200 and odd pounds for a hire car but its looking that way

But if you buy a bogus car you might pay in thousands to put it right.
I have done it once (buying car week before holidays) on way to Alps tyre blew up and I have realised then that morons tightened nuts with air gun and recovery was involved, towing, driving 16hrs on space saver wheel with fully loaded car and through winding roads 2000m above sea level. Not funny. Plus new tyre on order in France + fitting. All in 550 Euro.
If engine, auto box issue or suspension you will pay more in foreign country than me just for one tyre problem.
I would hire a car!
I know you are right but I am still a child when it comes to cars and I WANT IT NOW
By the way what is the difference between a SE and a HSE, Is it just the sunroofs ?
