A quick tip. Even if you think it looks like a total shed, I would of taken the time to give it a test drive anyway. Your only wasting the dealers time and if he is trying to sell it without willing to tidy it up, it's his fault. You've wasted your time going to see it, so at least take the opportunity to get a feel for Discovery 3's. The more miles you do in different ones, the more you will get to know what a good one should drive like. I drove a lot of them before finally choosing my SE. It felt so much tighter than any other ones I had driven.
Another quick tip - With the engine running, put it in neutral and select low range. Make sure it drives ok in low range and then when stopped, apply the electronic parking brake. Low range can show up any epb faults that might not of shown up in high range (as I found out a month ago).
I know what you are saying but I did not want to waste his time as there was no way I would buy it. I have drove land rovers in one guise or another for years but not a D3 I will have a test drive in a few but just not that one. As for the other tip thanks I will do that. Thankyou.

if you don't mind traveling Rudkin motor services in Dorset buy LR trade ins fully service including belts as standard irrespective of mileage plus 3 month full warranty all parts and will sort out or pay someone local to you to fix it.
As far as air suspension goes put it on extended height with all windows open and listen for the compressor cutting off, if it keeps going after the car has raised itself then there could be a problemdisco 2 td5 [ don't ask long story none of it good ] now disco 3 05 se from a great chap [ tc /ebox slipping after 2 weeks fixed with new parts no problem ] there are some good guys out there.
Years ago had a mg roadster. Mental list of 10 things that might go wrong at any time. Now into L R [ life must be dull ]
As far as I know the HSE gets 19" wheels, premium Nav, front PDC, Sunroof, roof rails, and premium ICE over an SE, and auto was a NCO.2005 Disco 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Tonga
Lexus RX300 SE-L
Landcruiser 90 VX 3.4 V6
Range Rover Vogue SE TDi 1995
Going this morning to look at a couple in Bradford and Wakefield. One of the cars is a HSE but is a 04 (54). Was there any problems with early d3 s that was sorted on later models and is there anything I should look out for ?

No sadly not,one of the sellers at Bradford was too busy to show us the car so obviously did not want to sell it. Yesterday he said i will be here all day tomorrow (Sunday) but was elsewhere when we got there. The other was a bit unloved and tatty with bits of trim broken here and there load cover missing rear number plate broken the letter V missing off rear Discovery badge plate missing off electrics and paintwork as dull as my mood when I saw it. Thanks for pointing the other car out but I really want a HSE or at least a SE. I may be setting my standards a little high for £8500 but I would at least expect the car to be all there and in one piece The search goes on.
