It may be refering to the coolant pump on the side on the fbh frame, check its working, if not the coolant will get hot in the fbh and switch it of as its safety feature,

Hi Pete,
Yes, I suspect that is where the problem lies - I'm hoping that someone may have had similar issues and will be able to provide some guidance on how to get it off, what to look for / check etc.

Hi
The pump is a small thing attached with a couple of torx bolts, easy to get off. if you start the fbh you should feel and here it running/pumping.

Hi Pete !
Have just Collected the FBH Remote at UPS here in Stockholm.
Will fit the Unit this afternoon .
The kit came only after a few days, but i was not home when they came for Delivery.
My location was between Amsterdam and Bergen ( Norway ) On a Tanker Vessel
and after that we went to Dublin ,and signing off.
Arrived home last night , and found Note from UPS..
And they were just getting ready to send it back..
Quick Phonecall early morning, all sorted, Went to UPS and collected the package..
So, Now everything is fine, and almost set for the winter Jan R.

Hi Again Pete !
BAS FBH Remote successfully fitted
Installed according to instructions.
However there was already one red cable fitted into Pin 2.
No idea where it comes from, it disapeared into the loom..
Do you have any idea what it could be doing there ??
We disconnected it, and attached green wire instead.
Started up fine, but stopped after less than a minute.
Tried 3 times and slept. Pressed start again, same result.
Did full reset. Pressed start again, same result one minute burn and stopped again..
But we did'nt give up. Tried to start again.. Could hear the Fuelpump running.
And finally after 5-6 minutes burn and pump happily ticking over we went home for a hot Cuppa.
Outside temp 0 C, so winter come on now..
Indoor temp much better, around 20 C Jan R.

Great news.
The red wire is a old redundant wire left over from when Landrover used to control the heater on a vary old software version of which they then later removed the function.
As you see sometimes a FBH can be a bad starter but generally as you have found it will start correctly in the end once the cobwebs are blown out, fingers crossed yours will now stay alive all winter.
I have only heard of a couple of customers that have had a bad heater my module won't start which is good considering the problems the FBH has in standard form if not used regulary.
Remember as per the instructions you can set it to run for 45 mins instead of the default 30 mins if you need.

Hi again Pete !
Now finally have seen a good clean burn from the FBH
The last few days have only been short intervals of action in the FBH.
So i think my previous happiness was maybe a bit hasty..
After adding some Injection Cleaner i the Tank. ( STP Green bottle )
Priming FBH Pump via Controller, Pressing the magic Start button
and giving the FBH a bit of Starter Gas in the begining. ( just a whiff now and then )
Smoke during the first minute, then just very hot exhaust from pipe.
And a steady fne Drone from the Heater and Fan,
also heard / Felt the Water Circulation Pump working fine
I let it go for about 15 minutes, switched it off via PLIP button .
Got in and had a Cuppa Joe, was not soo cold Just about 1,5 C outside.
After one hour i went out again and Started via Remote.
Started up fine, again let it run for about 15 minutes.
Stopped with remote, Got in the Car and started Engine, and FBH started up fine again.
So, after a good Burn to get old Crud burned out, Now everything is set for a Cold winter.
We got the first taste of snow today, only enouh to get the streets white for a while.
Still some at the Carpark though, but almost gone on the busy road nearby.
Thanks for a Fine Product Pete !! 8) Jan R.

Perfect, just in time for the snow as well lol. Glad you persisted with the fuel treatment and start gas etc, it's amazing how much crap gets built up over cold summer short run starts and when winter really comes it causes problems.
We had a few flakes this morning but didn't make any white parts though I'm sure it's only round the corner for most of us.

After the installation my FBH ran from the first press of the button on the remote. But I wasn't impressed by the heat/temperature generated after a 30min run, so I changed it to 45min. At first I didn't notice much difference, because apparently my battery wasn't that good anymore and Pete's box therefore stopped before the run had fully completed (as it is designed to make sure that there is enough power left to start the car). With a new battery I tried it this morning and after 45min the engine temp is almost at mid level.
So in order to get the most out of Steve's fantastic kit make sure that your battery is properly charged and in good health.
Greeting from Germany
Lars

Took pump off, put 12v across it and it works OK so the problem is elsewhere. Fault code is B1D27, output voltage from the FBH to the pump is only 9.5 volts but appears to be -9.5 so I'm wondering if a fuse has blown on the FBH circuit board ?
Is it easy to get access to the circuit board ??

Hi
The FBHIC does not use fuses that will blow so as you would think like a normal glass fuse so im 100% this is not your problem the same goes for the FBH pcb, your heater/pump is the problem for sure somehow. If the fault B1D27 Coolant pump circuit / Heater coolant pump is present even though its workinig on a 12v test it could be failing slowley and the resistance and Amps used could be more than expected hence the fault code flagged.
Simlar to when a bulb blows and shorts a for a second it can cause a circiut fault, its especially more so on motors as it could be just part of a winding that is faulty and as ther motor spins past the shorted or faulty winding it flags the circuit fault but the motor can still spin. More common on starter motors but still the same theory.
Re the -9.5, are you sure you have the meter probes the correct way rount on the motor wires ? alos test the power when the motor is spinning or connected to the FBH.
