Hi Pete,
Probes were the right way round so not sure what happened. Coolant pump not running when connected to the FBH but does run really well if 12v applied directly (from battery).
Is it worth taking the FBH apart or should I just resign myself to needing a replacement unit ??

please test voltage out when the pump is connected and you try and fire the heater, if the fbh is workinbg then it should at least try to power the pump.
but yes you may need a new fbh if its nothing simple.

Ordered mine, and paid, yesterday to get a message to say they are now under construction and not delivered yet - no timescale suggested.....

Hi
I hope to send all orders out early next week. Sorry to all for the delay, the pcb factory has had some problems with their acid bath which has held things up

Hi Pete,
Didn't get to check the voltages but....took another twist yesterday - started engine and then cleared down the coolant pump errors whist engine was running and guess what - a wheel arch full of smoke !!!!. Didn't run for the full time but at least it did run and no error codes logged. I'll keep trying to 'force' it, perhaps it's a battery voltage problem about to bite me in the derrier

I think John Haigh was the Acid Bath Murderer Steve, a small point admittedly yet strangely topical.

Steve (MapleCottage)
If your FBH is firing with the engine running then I would think your problem is likely to be with the circulating pump on the Webasto unit. With the engine running the water pump will circulate the water anyway so no overheating.
I am not sure but think that the output from the FBH to the circulating pump may not be a straight forward 12V anyway. The fuel pump for instance receives a pulse modulated output to operate correctly. Yorkie

Fitted mine today - works perfectly
Spoke to Pete on phone to check all the details before fitting and got the proper low down - fitted in about 20 mins - brilliant!
On a sadder note Alternator has gone U/S - TFC coming in the moring to fit a new one - Warranty Direct happy to pay although only signed up in November so very happy! Its all in the grip of the Tyre Fitters hand!

Hi Yorkie,
A while ago I would have been tempted to agree but during my 'investigations' I discovered that the coolant pump errors actually prevent the FBH from running at all, it is not an 'overheat' that was causing the malfunction/shutdown. The FBH detects that the pump is not running and prevents the burner from firing at all.
On measuring the voltage from the FBH to the pump I found it was only 9.6v, this led me to think about voltage generally and so decided to try to activate it with the engine running but still cold thus ensuring good healthy voltage to the FBH, clear down the DTC's and the required low temperatures.
Lo and behold, it worked.
I've yet to try it again but will be doing so at the weekend; have added a good slug of Redex for good measure - watch this space.
Merry xmas one and all.
