Quite amazing, mounting the FBH controller was really a simple job!
After the 3rd attempt, it fired up for the full period!
Lots of smoke when it fired up but it worked fine
This gives huge confident in Pete's "gadgets".
Thanks Pete!Disco 3 TDV6 HSE 2005

Reading through this tread it looks like this is the perfect addition to my 2006 HSE in preparation for winter (apart from the Vredestein Wintrac's that will be fitted on Friday!).
I could not find what the best way is for fitting the controller (i have a LHD vehicle): in the spare battery compartment (and extending the red wire) or next to the battery (and extending the green wire). Also is there a recommended way to extend the wire?

FBH in LHD car
Hi Ronald,
I fitted the controller in the battery compartment and extended the green wire. I did this because the controller was easier to mount tight next to the battery.
Extended the wire with insulated blade terminals and gave it extra isolation and protection using heatshrink sleeves.
What kind of Wintrac's are you going to buy and at what price?Disco 3 TDV6 HSE 2005

Thanks for the quick reply.
I had difficulty finding the Wintrac's so I ended up going to the local ProfileTyrecenter who was able to supply them for €256 a corner. Not the cheapest, but that's probably what you get when you buy late

Hi
If I were fitting the kit to a LHD car I would still fit the module at the fbh side of the car leaving only the red 12v wire to be extended into the battery box. The wire can easily be extended wish a crimp or soldering iron and heatsrink.

Hi Pete,
Why do you recommend fitting the controller at the FBH side?Disco 3 TDV6 HSE 2005

I think best to extend the 12v not the fbh wire.

If you have it non FBH side and its working dont worry to much, I just feel that any communication wires/lines EG the green should where possibile be as short as possibile. It also carrys an un fused voltage that your heater and the mdoule both produce.

It's a few weeeks now since I fitted my BAS controller and at first it all went swimmingly well - now it has become really tempermental
After it failing to fire (it primes etc) several times now, going the Redex route in case it was a burner crud issue, I decided to get my FCR on the case and it tells me there is a fault with the FBH circulation pump (B1D27?).
If I clear this down it will then fire up but only runs for about 10 mins (presumably the water temp sensors kick in and shut it down).
Anyone know if it is possible to effect a repair to this ?? Has anyone had one apart ?? Is it something I can dismantle easily - it could be caused by something really simple I guess.
