So how many hours/days did it take to find the bonnet catch? 2 DAYS to fit!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 Friggin DAYS? Maybe you should have had a little look at my notes and pics of fitting mine, it may have shaved a day and a good few hours off that fitting time
I wouldn't bother doing your own servicing, you would need to take a year out!

Pah, that's nothing. I used Pete's bottle opener for days before I got around to fitting the free FBH controller that came with it.

Ouch
2 days from pressing the order button
Took me 5 minutes to take out the little blue plug from the FBH PLUG. Tip push it out, don’t pull it out, breaks inside the connection. That was the longest part of installation. Another 5 minutes and all was running.
Just had to clear that up. Dont want to waste Pete's reputation

Fitted mine a few days ago, very easy installation as I had the red wire installed already. Being a LHD vehicle I did extend the positive battery lead to the other side of the engine bay to mount the FBHIC in the secondary, and empty battery compartment, nicely within reach of the FBH and grounding point.
After installing the FBHIC though, I can see that my FBH misbehaves. Basically it will only run with the green LED lit for around 2 minutes max. After one minute it flashes three times then stays lit for another minute. For the next three minutes the Led then starts flashing, the FBH shuts down and restarts. This is repeated three times, until the LED flashes red once.
My understanding is that this is the FBHIC trying to start the FBH three times, and each time the FBH does a flame out shutdown. I do get smoke when running the cycle after a prime, and the coolant outlet does get warmer when I run the cycle. I can also hear the ticking of the fuel pump when doing a prime, and feel the circulation pump working.
Anything I should try to get it going, I do have a MSV, so I can read the faults if needed.2006 D3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Bonatti Grey

I had a similar issue (near start of thread for details), but stick with it as the controller clears the fault codes so it does not lock out. I added a diesel additive (redex in my case, but any will do); not sure they help much for the engine but they do seem to work in cleaning out the FBH. You could try blowing down the intake when it is trying to light but I didn't fancy the wife catching me doing that!Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Hi Robbie.
Will try that. Having never used an additive, can you describe the procedure? how, and how much etc.
Thanks!2006 D3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Bonatti Grey

Hi
The FBH module will clear the fault codes on all of its 3 trys if needed, try adding some fuel treatment to your diesel tank to help clean out the fbh. If its not run correctly for some time it may take a good few trys to get the fbh back to its normal running healthy state.

Hi Pete.
Thanks, will try it.
Btw. impressed by the range of the remote...it does succesfully reach the car from my apartment on the 5. th floor....will be really neat when I get the FBH behaving
Cant wait for the GSM module, If I understand it correctly you can send the time you want the car to be warm, and the module will calculate the FBH start time, right?
Best

Poured a bottle of Redex into an empty tank yesterday, then filled it with 50L diesel. Drove around for a while to get it into the system, then let the engine cool down. Fired it around 10 times, but it still didn't fire.
Then this morning it fired right up and continued for the full 30 min period

Range
My car is parked just 50 meters from our house, but the remote is not working until I put on my shoes and walk halfway there. From front door it's not working even though it's clear view. Is there a way to extend the range, i.e. fiddle with the brown wire? When will the gsm module be available?1951 Series One 80" 1600cc Deep Bronze Green

Try pressing the front of the FBH remote control on the side of your head when pressing the button, that should do the trick
