Just a quick question, has anyone run it for longer than the pre-set times by restarting it after the pre-set run time had run without running the car engine, there was mention that the fuel heater could only be run for a set time before it starved the engine of fuel? It was mentioned here that there is a second tank that the fuel was pumped into for the engine and the heater that only had a set run time before it run out of fuel and starved the engine? Is this correct as I find this a bit strange?
Thanks for any information into this, is this why the run times are set to 30 or 45 minutes?
Best wishes to all
It depends on what system you have to power up the FBH, If the system runs the fbh fuel pump then burn times are what is set I can run my fbh without the engine running for 45 - 50 or 60mins.
The Danhag Pro software allows for this but if your danhag is fitted with standard software then burn time is 30 mins max.
There was a post from Danhag that did say it was what ever was set in the software in the FBH ecu. I know Pete FBH mod but not sure about how long his system can run.

I have run mine for 30 min then another 30 min pretty much straight after that without running the car. Seem to recall a post somewhere suggesting that this was not possible but cannot recall the reason why. I have my BAS controller set at 45 min, which seems the best setting so far.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Hi
You can run the FBH as many times as you like for as long as you like UNTIL the coolant temprature gets to 76-77C and then the FBH its self says no more and goes into idle/hover state to maintain that temprature.
It does not matter how many times after that you run the module you wont ever get more as the temprature is a security protection built into the FBH its self.
This is why we only offer 2 times 30 min and 45 mins, as this is the most effective time setting range for all conditions we have seen so far. any more than this and the FBH will be just burning fuel for no reason holding its hover state temprature.
As you see from the pdf we started this graph at 13c, it took 27 mins to get to 77c, on a colder day the 45 min option may be needed to get the same temprature.
In our GSM kit when ready you will be able to send it a command to "Be Ready" in X mins, the Module will then look at the coolant temprature an calculate a spacific run time to meet your pre set desired temprature. This will be far more effective than any controler on the market in controlling the requested temprature gained allong with the needed run time to match it. This also helps you save on fuel as the FBH will only run when its needed and not ever go into idle/hover state waisting expencive fuel.
See pdf attached. I hope it helps answer your question.

Hi Pete - any ideas how long until the GSM kit will be ready?
Will it be a DIY retro-fit or a return to you option?
Cheers

Hi
I'm not sure on the time scale yet for the gsm kit, We still have a lot of development and testing to do before I can put final dates on it. At the moment it may be a return for upgrade due to the firmware needing to be updated to add the extra non originally planned features.
We will also looking into the self install possibilities but until we have built the production gsm kit we can not finalize the upgrade procedure. Though it will for sure need some basic soldering skills to connect both kits together.

Hi All,
I have just placed an order for one of pete's kits.. (by the way Pete, I own an electronic component distribution company and a partner factory in China that may assist with the component and assembly process if required)..
Not being a hands on type of guy.. I was wondering if there was a step by step guide in fitting this fantastic unit? Pictures are always welcome for us non tech people.....
Thanks in advance..
EDIT:
Please ignore my post, I've just found on page 11 Discotres very handy guide.. thanks Discotres for taking the time to document this..

OK,, just spent the last 2 hours reading the FBH threads and have come to the conclusion that I really need to ensure my FBH is operating correctly before I go ahead and fit the RF system from Pete.
This morning (4c) was the only time I've seen a tiny puff of smoke from the front wheel arch (but remember I've only had the car for about 3 weeks now).. So, How do I tell if my FBH is operational?
Is there any way I can force the FBH to trigger / purge?
If I need a faultmate to do the trigger / purge, are there any nice forum members with access to a faultmate within the stoke on trent area that I could use to do it?
Roy, AFAIK, Pete's module can also be used to reset the FBH, so as long as it will physically work, the module will be able to reset the faults and get it going.
It's just one feature that takes it above the other options IMHO and I am seriously considering getting one myself.Mark.

uktivo, as anglefire has kindly informed you my module will clear all fault codes present where possibile allong with making a fuel pump prime if needed.
On my main web page you will see a pdf for the module and it goes into explaning how fault codes can be cleared if needed and also how to make the fuel pump prime .
To be perfectly honest you dont need to do any of what it states and all you really need to do to see if your heater works is, fit my kit and press the plip triangle (ON) button and wait for it to fire up. The plip comes pre paired to the module so you only have 3 wires to fit after taking outof its packing and you will know your if your fbh is working in less than 10 mins.

Just to add to Pete's post above the controller can be used to get a problematic FBH going again, as my posts towards the beginning of this thread can testify. Don't give up after 10 mins though as mine took many many attempts and a dose of redex to get it going. Pete's kit automatically gives it 3 goes if it fails to light and then needs to be triggered again if it is being a little awkward.
Once mine finally did get going it now lights on first attempt and I will, of course, trigger it now and then in the warmer months just to keep the FBH healthy.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Pete, will you also provide a complete kit (kit 1& kit 2) with no need for "user" soldering Simon

Well that was easy....
Pete..thanks for the super quick delivery. A message to anyone thinking about getting one of these kits but worrying about fitting it. Trust me. If I can do it within 20 mins, any one can. I can't recall the last time I worked on one of my cars as I've always depended on the dealers to sort issues etc.. This kit literally took me 20 mins (and I took my time).
I purged the fbh and then ran it.. Smoke everywhere..(quite satisfying really). The kit fired up first time.
Well done pete on the design..
To sum up. Well designed, super easy to install and works first time. What else do you need...
