Yes,... but how's that fair? Why don't all parties in a union get to vote on whether in continues? This decision doesn't just effect people in Scotland.
Alternatively, why not also give the English a referendum on whether to leave Scotland - at least we'd all get a say then?

What would swing it the correct way is giving "EVERY" Scot the vote, Scots who have travelled and perhaps seen a wee bit more of the world than Eck and his pubescent 16 year old page three readers. (other newspapers are available)

Resistance is futile !
If its gonna happen then it'll happen, personally I think it needs to happen !
Then once the Submarines move to Gibralter and the last two big RAF bases close and Scotland's Defence bill increases we will see how well all the planning and structure prop up a small Nations Economy.
I think tourism will suffer as a result, maybe not in the long term but initially ?Only dead fish go with the Flow !

I love the SNP's dependence on oil & whiskey. The former is the spawn of all evil & hence all the piggin wind farms, the latter you can't buy before 10am as we're all binge drinking louts. I asked SWMBO what we would do if there was a yes vote, answer was "leave Scotland & spend our hard earned elsewhere".

Why should it happen though?
You have a minority of people wanting to split away from the larger group. They don't represent the majority of people in Scotland, yet they could make us all suffer because of their own ideas.
Eck keeps banging the drum over how other independant countries are doing, yet Scotland as park of the UK is doing better than all of them, we are part of the 6th largest economy in the world, we have a growing recovery from the recession, it's been slow but steady.
You then need to create more public sector jobs to cover the possible new departments we would need.
Taking the budget deficit we run currently, even higher. So Eck thinks we can tax less, spend more and still have a surplus when the basic HMRC figures say otherwise.
It's madness, complete madness.
If it does go ahead, i shall be moving away. I know 13 other people who will also be doing that.
I want no part of it.

I was wondering.... there will be no border control between England and Scotland... so what happens if no UK europeans try to move northwards to Scotland assuming Scotland opts out of the EU.
More importantly, my wife's visa has been issued by the UK Home Office and will remain that way for a further 5 years. I wonder what would happen there... ?
Finally, if an English person sets up home in Scotland prior to the split (or vice versa) can that person apply to be English or Scottish?

Yes, but it may backfire. Opinion Polls up here are that the school kids are in favour of 'No'!?
One possible argument for this is that they will (by instinct) vote 'anti-establishment' and, so far as most 16yr olds are concerned, Holyrood IS the establishment
Lets hope wee eck/ginger rodent has got that one wrong!Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Advantage of mobiles, they work on the train. And very nice face stuffing was has. Resisted the temptation to go for 2nd bottle of vino in restaurant but stopped off at local shop for couple of bottles of vino & couple of packs of bickies.

If they do leave, then at least i can send my sons to Scotish universities and not pay any fees - as they rest of Europe can do now
But I'd rather pay and have them stay in the UnionIggy/Ieuan

Of course if Scotland does go indepndant don't rule out border controls as they prob wouldn't be in the EU, if they were they'd have to adopt the Schengen Agreement which the UK is not in.
Plus they'd have to adopt the Euro in a set timescale.

we were watching a programme a few days ago where a committe were questioning some legal chaps about the implications of the European Union - Schengen and all that!
Seemed that so much hasnt been thought through, and some very naive views of how an independent Scotland would be treated and how long it would take to join the EU.
the UK has negotiated out of some of the EU requirements , but those exclusion wouldnt carry forwward to Scotland. so they would need to negotiate in their own right. Being a "new" country and with little experience and currently NO legal authority, the view was they woudnt be accepted and if they were, the negotiations could drag on for ages - in the meantime Scotland would need to operate as not being part of the EU.
very interesting it was..Duncan
