Did the ffrr screen mod, thought I could live with the dim screen but it’s far too dim on a sunny day 🙄

Camera still not working

Hi, anyone any ideas on this, I’ve installed a rear camera on a discovery 3 2005 , ive tested it using the hidden function button and the camera works fine, the sender for the camera has a power light on it and everytime I put it into reverse with the gear leaver the power light comes on so I know it has power, I’ve done the Range Rover conversion for the screen which allows me to switch between landrover and Range Rover and that works, I’ve also been into the CCF files with the iid tool and switchedi the rear parking sensor on, i also tried changing the landrover CCF files from low to high to activate the 4x4 screen on the landrover setup. Any ideas why when in the Range Rover mode the camera is not appearing when I put it into reverse. also I can’t test the camera through the hidden functions when in Range Rover mode.

Do you get a black screen in RR mode and reverse ?

If you get a fuzzy screen it maybe the wrong camera type.

Can’t you get into the hidden menu in RR mode ? The 2 buttons are swapped, so use the other button.

Personally I wouldn’t connect the camera to the reverse lights.
Rear power socket is easy option

I don’t get any screens at all when moved into reverse in Range Rover mode, the camera is fine in landrover mode but can only be accessed through the hidden test screen.
Ah didn’t realise buttons were switched will try that.
Is there anything else in the CCF files apart from just switching the camera on.

You need to let the car shut down when switching to RR
Mode.

Cheers Pete, RR mode does work without issues and I can flip between the 2 but it’s just the standard screen on RR mode when I shift to reverse when it should be auto switching to reverse camera

Pete does using that connection mean that the camera is permanently on?

With your IIDtool, update your sat/nav monitor as for "Nav on the move" procedure Thumbs Up

If the rear socket is as standard, it will mean the camera has power with the ignition I on.
This has the advantage you will keep a picture when moved out of reverse (for 10 seconds or until 10 MPH) (and you won't get fault codes on D4 models.)

The correct place to connect the camera is to the blue wire going to the arial amplifter colourful boxes (which I think are at the top of the tailgate).

So been back out today to test a few things, this is what I changed in CCF files
Car config, Load CCF, Confirmed list , Audio system, Parking camera :rear parking camera fitted
Is there anything else I should be changing ???
I removed the files in the CCF files and tested the camera again though the secret functions on the sat have screen and it works fine, so am thinking I’ve not done something correct with the CCF files.

Any suggestions?

Hi, as Panoramix said, you need to update the software in your sat/nav monitor for the camera to work. (note monitor software update takes about an hour to complete - you will need to have a good charger on the battery to keep voltage over 12.5 V)

Thanks Rennos, can you supply a link to any data on how to update the monitor software. I’ve read all the previous posts but not seen any guidelines.

Any help appreciated

The sat/nav monitor is another "module - known also as ECU" (like PCM, BCM, etc.) so you will have to use the module update procedure in the IIDtool

Read the instructions on the IIDtool on how to update the software of a module (I am using LR IDS so I cannot help any further, but the procedure is the same in principle). It is important the battery voltage is kept over 12.5 V)
