I have to say I love this site more and more! My wallet however does not
I am interested in fitting bluetooth to my 54 plate D3 and by the looks of things the D4 module is the way to go. I currently have no bluetooth so need to aquire the whole kit.
However I would like to be able to stream music via the bluetooth. Otherwise it wouldn't be worth the cost but I take it from some of the above posts this is not possible (yet eh wiggs? )
Could it be possible with some software update/mods?
Maybe this could be your next investigation wiggs? (unless you already have and it can't be done in which case i'll shut up )2004 Disco 3 TDV6 SE

Ahh ok! Nevermind! Unfortunately that makes it not worthwhile for me as no bu**er calls me unless they want something anyway!!
I'll have to investigate moving or piggy backing the 3.5mm jack socket into a better/easier to access/less likely for kids to kick it off location!
Cheers! Off to look at the D4 nav mod now.........2004 Disco 3 TDV6 SE

Is there a difference in the serial numbers for D3 or D4 Bluetooth modules? How can you tell what version of software the module has? Thanks.2006 RRS HSE Cairns Blue

Yes they are different numbers, the D4 number is LR025842 and there is only one firmware version. There are several numbers and firmware versions for the D3, varying from useless to inferior, D4 is the way to go, not cheep but very good and very clear sound, easy to fit, fast connection by most phones( I've tried 3 phones without any problem one 10 years old).
There will be someone along shortly with more knowledge than me, I would go as far as to say if you can't stretch to a D4 module go for a Parrot It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

well just got back from robbie's house to enable my 2006 d3 s to make it work with the new d4 bluetooth module iv just fitted and its working about 90% , all pairs and works fine but when i make a phone call the person i call cant hear me, i pluged in the mic to the LR loom that i found suck to the roof liner above the sun visor.
I did have the after market kit and im 99% sure i got it all out , and as i fitted it myself i can remember what it all looked like.
Later today im going to check all connections on the back of the radio to make sure it all looks good but just thought id post on here in case its happened to someone else ?

Could be the mic wires going from the radio to the mic .. Had quite a few that get chaffed behind the dash
You need to check for continuity from mic to wires 2 & 4 in the radio ( small connector )G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I've read on here that the loom continuity becomes broken somewhere near the bottom of the A pillar.
When I did mine, I ran a new pair of cables from the microphone to the back of the head unit to avoid any such problems later on.
Also make sure that the two cables are completely isolated from each other. I soldered mine and put some heat shrink around the joins but a sharp, tiny amount of solder was poking out of the heat shrink and shorting the other cable.
It can only be something simple like this, assuming Rob enabled the microphone as well as the Bluetooth?
