It can only be something simple like this, assuming Rob enabled the microphone as well as the Bluetooth?
Steve
Regrettably my daughter's dental appointment denied me the fun of pulling the H-trim and head unit to get to the bottom of this.
The microphone itself was at 8 ohms but a quick resistance check down the open connector showed an open circuit back to the head unit….
Bluetooth was already enabled (as normal); cellular telephone with docking & bluetooth selected; microphone fitted selected but the vehicle has no voice button (so unable to use that as a mic test). The Multi Media Module presentation is different on the IIDTool compared to the MSV and it did not have the option of Denso / Land Rover Mode, so I assume that the option given selects LR mode. Given the results my (unproven) assumption is that it is a hardware issue as suggested above and it was shame I could not resolve it there and then.
It was my first day with the new IID App that was released yesterday, so a few things have moved around from before which added another dimension. Another welcomed step forward though.
I think Rodus has the new record for stored fault codes, plus a low alternator output and a dead FBH to add to the pre-Christmas fun!
I am around most of tomorrow.

[quote="Woolmeister"]I've read on here that the loom continuity becomes broken somewhere near the bottom of the A pillar.
When I did mine, I ran a new pair of cables from the microphone to the back of the head unit to avoid any such problems later on.
Done !!!!!!! yeah break in wire somewhere between radio and plug in roof, i found a plug between the roof and drivers door pillar, wire is good between roof and that plug so break must be between that plug and radio , it go's down to the floor and then across.
Thought it was just easier to run a new mic wire and job done ! Now as long as it still works when i put it all back together after this tea break then happy days!!!

Yes they are different numbers, the D4 number is LR025842 and there is only one firmware version. There are several numbers and firmware versions for the D3, varying from useless to inferior, D4 is the way to go, not cheep but very good and very clear sound, easy to fit, fast connection by most phones( I've tried 3 phones without any problem one 10 years old).
There will be someone along shortly with more knowledge than me, I would go as far as to say if you can't stretch to a D4 module go for a Parrot
Cheers...thanks M3DPO, presumably that device connects the same way that Wigg's updated D3 module did, so if I were to upgrade to a D4, I might get even better quality than the upgraded D3?2006 RRS HSE Cairns Blue

Excellent news. Honourable mention for Geoff too, as he provided 'sanity checks' by phone as well as discussing the issue with others - so quite a forum effort.
I hope Beanie does not mind us opening his package!

Strike that...looks like I do indeed have the D4 module already...so just need to figure out the intermittent working here. Thanks again!2006 RRS HSE Cairns Blue

Speaking of beanie's package I had to take mic wire out to fit back on mine , but easy to make one up as only needs to be two core wore ( red and blue wire , black wire only to protect signal I believe ) you will have to cut of the plug unless you happen to have a plug the same , posted it don't worry about paying me even for postage just donate something to site .
Hopefully you will get it working , it worked fine for me I just wanted something better .

Hi Wiggs (Daniel),
We are really living in a time where communication is imortant and also tricky.
Have now read 66 pages in this thread, your other thread on D3 to D4 screen update and your website on exchange. Messages sent to you earlier in different ways.
Now I think I am better off to know what I need.
Have bought a D4 screen which I will install.
Now I am interested in getting an offer from you on the following:
1 D4 bluetooth module
1 power cable from D3 loom to new D4 module
1 Fakra cable from DVD unit to new D4 screen
1 cable conversion from D3 connector to new D4 screen
1 cable from D4 screen update socket
Live in Sweden so there will be some postage.
regards
Peter

Hello wiggs I joined your site and it seem it was a order form. I have a couple questions about my unit. I want to know if you know what to use to take it off. so i can inspect it to see if its water damaged.

Just got D4 module running in my D3. Thanks to Beanie for shipping D4 BT Module, mic, most cable & switches from UK down-under. Edited CCF using Nanocom Evo which has turned out to be a great bit of kit. Installation was a snap once I figured out how to power the module.
