If upgrading to the d4 module from the d3 do you need to purchase a new bracket or is there a position for it to mount directly ?

If I remember rightly my d3 module was bolted onto the bracket with a single bolt. My new d4 module has four mounting points. Do I remove the current d3 mounting bracket Geoff to expose the holes

On my car I cable tied it.

Left the old module at his place, as back-up.

ok dumb questions coming up.

I have a D3, 2007 build, MY08
HiICE
SatNav
Premium sound - Harmon Kardon which I beleive to be the mid range unit offered by LR back then.

No Bluetooth fitted, I did not get that option.

So I understand there is an factory install kit that can be purchased plus I need the voice module.

Is the factory install kit the D3 module or D4? I guessing that if it is the D3 only that you can get all the bits separatly to make up a kit with D4 module?

Understand that the module can be modified by SW to enhance its useabuility and allow phone book etc and onscreen display.

Will that then show up on the main touch screen or is that another SW upgrade?

Ive seen numerous posts that state you can not stream music via the bluetooth in the older D3s.

Is there a SW upgrade that allows this to happen?

I'll be soon on an iPhone 6 plus with iOS 8.1, knowing apple that will up rev constantly.

Will the lastest D4 module with lastest SW intergrate with the iPhone 6 plus on iOS 8.1?

And lastly if one was to go this route I am hoping to find, gather or beg or steal a part number list of all that is needed!

My local LR dealer here in Brisbane, Australia can do the enabling for about $250 AUD.

Aplogies for all of these questions, just doing my due dilligence to assess feasibility and see what I am likely to get for my bucks!

cheers
Peter

There is a LR aftermarket Bluetooth kit you can buy .. It also requires a Bluetooth module .

This system is pants and it's not worth fitting .

Next option is to retro fit the factory (PTI ) kit ..
Being as LR say you can't retro fit them , then there is no kit . You can buy the parts separately .

Normally being
Bluetooth module ( d4 is better )
Most cable
Steering wheel switch
Mic
Voice control button

The last 2 you won't need if you already have the voice button on the steering wheel .

Once fitted it needs enabling .

You cannot stream music as there is no software in the car to make it work ( standard 2012 onwards )

It won't do anything to your screen ... Contacts will be shown on the radio and small LCD display on instrument cluster .

D4 module works fine with iPhone 6

Hi Wiggs,
thanks mate. By pants I'm assuming that means it is rubbish!

I'm aware of kits you can but, not sure if they are the PTI or aftermarket versions though?
No desciption of what is in them except a poor quality photo and suppliers are very cagey when pressed on questions.

Kit VUB501152

voice module LR006279. Now as my D3 already has voice control on the SATNAV do I still need this?

Yes my D3 has the voice switch and mic.

Are there any part numbers for the other bits of kit?
D4 module
MOST cable
Steering wheel switch assembly.

So no upgrade is possible to SW to allow for music streaming from your phone? I'm sure if one was developed the D3 owners would leap at it. I know I would.

I saw in previous threads comments about installing the RR SW which then gave display on the touch screen.

Sorry to be extrating teeth here.
cheers
P

Yes rubbish .. Very Basic and cant be updated for use with newer phones .. It also has very limited functionality

VUB501152 Is the aftermarket kit
LR006279 is the Bluetooth module that goes with the above kit

Dosent matter if you have the voice button .. You still need both of the above if you want the aftermarket kit

No software updates for the streaming .. As said its the car that's not capable not the Bluetooth module .

RR software has no relevance to the Bluetooth kit .. It may cause you more issues than it's worth

D4 module - LR025842
Most cable .. Can't buy one with the correct ends .. You have to modify one .. I supply a plug and play lead
Steering wheel buttons are vin related ... Ask at your dealer

ok thanks mate, sounds too much effort and cost for very little return! Circa $1500AUD I can spend on new shocks instead.

As luxury car tax rates here went nuts when the socialists took power a few years back, leasing a new one is out of the question. So the old D3 soldiers on for a few more years. Has 192k so far.

Even though the LNP (Tories to you lot) are in power they are insipid and much like Cameron they forget what side of the fence they are supposed to sit on. Don't get me started!

Looks like I am stuck with my old Blue Ant for hands free and plugging the iPhone into the AUX socket for music. New lady friend will continue to play DJ! Which she quite likes doing except for when she puts Chris DeBurge Lady in Red on and I scream out in pain!!

I digress.

Is there a positive way to identify the factory fit modules against the aftermarket modules? -does a D3 module with the number XVJ500042 on it mean anything?
Is your MOST cable suitable for both D3 and D4 modules?- I have all the switches and working Mike with voice control on a HSE but I don't have any Bluetooth.
Can the module be activated with an Iid tool?
.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
