Geoff. - on the previous page - is the bloke with the Faultmate.
Sounds like quite a bit is wrong with your D3 .
You can replace the front panel of the integrated head unit if loads of buttons are broken. Part number is (I think) LR019964 and is about £150. Contact TLO ("The Large One" on here) for LR parts unless you want to get ripped off by Hunters Southampton. You may be better off looking out for a used IHU from a breaker if the problems run deeper than the face plate.
Inability to lock the car from the key may be caused by a faulty splice in the main wiring loom and is a relatively cheap fix. Instructions are here if you fancied giving this a go yourself:
Geoffrey (geoff.) is in town on Saturday and will be working in the Millbrook area on another Site Sponsor's car.
I'm only in Chandler's Ford and happy to offer ad hoc assistance to local forum members as and when the time allows. However, I am only a mere amateur here compared to Messrs geoff. and Wiggs.

Wow all these Disco 3 members in the Southampton area. I'm on Upper Hill Lane and work in CF. Exchange unit is straight forward. I put in a D4 unit where BT wasn't before and it's not that hard a job.

Dear Wiggs,
Can you help me find and install (with the appropriate wiring) a D4 unit in my 2008 FFR (US).
Can you PM me with details? I have the D3 unit with phonebook but the call quality is just not that good.
Thanks
Alex

I will pm you shortly once I have reached the magic 3 postings! I have just picked up my D3 HSE MY 2005 (delighted), it currently has no phone functions, but does have the voice control button. Is it as simple as getting a D4 bt module and installing / activating?
Talk soon

If you have factory fit bluetooth , you can proberly get the software upgraded to give you phone book over bluetooth ( and any pairing issues ) without the need to change the module .
I can do it ..but distance maybee a problem ...thats why im thinking of a postal service . I would send a bluetooth module with the latest software ..you send you old one back and cross my palm with some reddies
Hi Wiggs, I have an 06 V8 HSE with PTI fitted and I'm keen to do this mod. I'm based in Oman so I was thinking of getting my own diagnostic tool so my question is "can the 11D Tool BT do this sort work or is it just the Fault Mate?"
As a fall back do you have any of the D4 modules available?
In the lid of my cubby box is this....
What is it?

Thanks for the info but I'm a bit confused so I'll tell you what I have first. I have the voice button on the left side of my steering wheel, I have 6 disc changer, I have Navigation.
I do not have the red/green button on the right hand side of the wheel.
Do I still need all of that?
