Wiggs
I was consdiering the upgrade but was told by my dealer at the last service he had updated it already but neither my nokia 6300, iphone 3gs or iphone 4 shows phone book. Is this something that is a just a risk or does that definately mean upgrade not done. If not, i work min central manchester, can i arrange to be "sorted" in person
Cheers
Pete

I very much doubt they would have put a D4 module in your D3 ....and you cant ( as yet ) load the D4 software on a D3 module .
What year is your car ? G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I've just swapped the Nokia module from my '07 RRS with a D4 module courtesy of wiggs and am pleased to report that it works a treat. I would like to know how I get the numbers on the touchscreen? Software upgrade via nav disc?

Just swapped here too from D3 to D4.
Phone connects so much faster & call quality so much better too big and thanks to Adrian yet again.
Jimska phone numbers on the touchscreen is RRS software which wiggs has tried on D3 but is not fully compatible. Sure he will be along soon to supply the detail Cheers Ian

I have just found out that the voice controls that are normally stored in the bluetooth module are not stored in the D4 module any more
If you have full voice control ( ie radio , nav etc ) then it makes no difference as it uses the voice control stored in the nav unit .
So this would only effect any one without a touch screen and sat nav
Just though i would pass on the info .
I have some more bluetooth units here if any one wants any G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

wiggs wrote:why they need 32 pins when only 2 are used is beyond me Extra pins are used for connection to the cradle interface, obviously not required on 09MY D3 and D4 as there is no cradle but presumably as it's a FoMoCo part they are used in some vehicles..
As you may have gathered got myself a new type BT module (cheers Wiggs ) after testing my phone in a 09MY D3 (cheers DG ). Not fitted yet (decided to do it properly so waiting for the mounting bracket to arrive (almost cheers TLO ) but been digging through the wiring diagrams trying to work out the pin-outs, unfortunately can't find anything that'll help for the cradle connection (I still use mine occasionally with my trusty Nokia 6230i)
So anyone got a full pin-out of the old and new style bluetooth modules? The End

Hi,
I experimented something weird with a D4 BT module in my D3.
I swapped a well working D3 module (factory type with MOST network) for a D4 module. An very easy work since I've just to plug the new module in place and everything works very well (call, answer, phonebook, signal and operator display...)
Unfortunately, after a while (10 or 15 minutes) all entertainment system shutdown. No more radio, touchscreen or LCD clock !
Power supply come from 12V aux plug and the fuse is okay.
Touchscreen seems try to reboot because I can see it blinking...
When I switch off ignition for several minutes, all system (incl. BT) works again.
Any idea ?
Is software upgrade required ?

Are you saying you are taking the power from the aux socket
You need to take it from the original bluetooth connector pin 16 .. G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I know and it's what I did first...
But as I suspect a power supply problem, I try to take power from powerfull source !
Of course "aux socket" is second "cigar lighter plug" on front consul (not audio aux)

What sort of problem ?
You cant take the power from there as it will cause all sorts of problems . The bluetooth wakes up when the remote is pressed to open the car ...and stays connected till the car goes to sleep .
If you dont have power to the bluetooth , you will lose all sound in the car .
Are you sure you have connected the power and ground to the correct pins on the D4 module
Pin 15 ( neg ) and pin 31 ( pos ) ....there not the very 2 bottom pins G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

wiggs wrote:What sort of problem ?
I suspected a voltage drop because of D4 BT (supposed) consumption higher than D3... It's why I tried another power source. Also I know very well that MOST network is a daisy chain. If only one module is switched off then all the network is out of order!
In fact, entertainment system works well as long as no phone is paired.
I traveled a week long with D4 BT fitted (connected to aux power) and BT disabled on my Iphone 3G.
There is a "no phone" message on touch screen but MOST network never shutdown.
When I turn on BT on my Iphone, I see phonebook's synchronization and operator's signal information... but I lose MOST network within 15 minutes !!! I think it's not only a communication problem because radio LCD and touch screen seems really switched off...
