d3 brakes
Hi Bodsy many thanks for brake bible. Just renewed all discs pads and epg shoes following ur bible. Could not have done it without.
Just one thing, dont know if its because my car is a n 09 or if I misunderstood instructions for bedding in.
You say apply epg and wait for car to stop. Normal application is just lift and release and this is what I did to no effect. Then tried applying and holding which did the trick for me.
Maybe I am just thick.
Anyway thanks again great job

Before you pull the epb, you need to put it into bedding in mode (if you changed the epb shoes or the disks) it will come up on the dahs to say Bedding In Mode or something similar.Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy's bible.
You are a legend, Bodsy. What a fantastic resource. Crystal clear, and 100 times better than anything Haynes have ever done.
First rear pads took me an hour as the calliper was stuck and was a complete mare to wind back. Second one took me 20 minutes with no problems on the sensor.
Tool matrix ! Just superb.
You're a prince amongst men. Genuinely, I am so grateful.
Regards
Damo

EPB Service Mode
First of all, greetings to all in this forum. Please excuse my weak knowlede of the English language.
Regarding entering the Service Mode:
In the Brake Bible is written:
Before removing the rear Brake disks, please carry out this sequence to put the Electronic Park
Brake into Service Mode. Ensure brake pads and calliper is fitted to all wheels.
In the car with ignition in Position II , press the brake pedal three times and hold the pedal down.
Push downon the EPB switch for 3 - 5 seconds.
Go to the main fuse box
in the engine bay and remove FL8 fuse 30A (pink Fuse) this will ensure that the EPB is not accidentally reengaged.
The workshop manual which I have here says:
l Turn the ignition key to position II.
l Apply, and hold, the footbrake.
l Apply, and hold, the parking brake switch to the RELEASE position.
l Turn the ignition key to position '0' and remove the key.
l Release the footbrake.
l Release the parking brake switch.
Let me add two comments:
1. I guess that there is no difference between the Range Sport and the Disco. At least I did not get there would be a difference between the Auto and the Manual
2. Generally, is there the need to perform the Service Mode as long as the pads stay retracted?
Maybe this exercise to rotate the adjuster 8 clicks back is well performed, if the cables of the actuator are in the position when the EPB is switched of.
Thank you.
Look in my gallery for the document of the workshop manual. It is from 05, by the way.
