Thanks Guys
For anyone attending the Peterborough Show, I'll be doing a live demonstration of a full front and rear Disk and pad change including the fabled adjustment of the Electronic Parking Brake using DiverDave's vehicle
If you come in through the main pedestrian entrance, I don't think you'll be able to miss us. Not sure exactly what time it will be on Saturday, but I'm thinking about 11ish depending on the weather Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy's Brake Bible
Just changed my front discs & pads using Bodsy's Brake Bible and would like to say a big Thankyou to Ian
I've not taken on anything like this before and found following each section very helpful.
I now know what a Bi-Hex socket is, My Torque wrench only goes upto 2ooNm & I only dropped £4.00 in to a swear box.
Cheers

Did my rear pads and sensor this morning - thanks bodsy - sensor plug is a right beeeeyyyyyaaatch - had to chock the fuel filler pipe to get my hand around the suspension to get to it.
And here's my top tip to add to this. If you don't have a special tool to expand the piston then IKEA do a Hardwood Door Wedge Pair (each sized about 5" by 2" by 2" at one end) for about a quid which fit perfectly into the space in the caliper frame - they slide very smoothly when gently tapped with a hammer to ease the piston back in.Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Hi
indeed very good explanation to change the brake pads.
I bought some original rear brake pads. One brake pad on every side has a plastic cover/strip which should be removed before placing them.
May be stupid question, but where must I place this pad on the inside or the outside?

The self adhesive side goes on the non caliper side. Where the 'fingers' are.
Did you download v1.5 as that's got the update in it.Bodsys Brake Bible

Ian it's a bloomin great guide!
I just replaced my front Discs and pads this afternoon, the torque settings were the bit I really needed because to be honest i wouldn't have known where to find them.
Due to corrosion on the back of my osf disc I had to ..'persuade; it to come off with a rubber mallet lol.
The only pain in the bum is the hub trying to rotate when I was trying to unlock the T50 Torx screw lol but I simply wound three wheel nuts back on all the way, then rested my bar between them with the end on the road, this held it nice and static while I broke the lock on the screw because it doesn't take too much pressure to release but even the slightest movement is annoying.
Job done so now all my discs and pads are lovely and new, till next time.
