Come on LR this is insane, they have always tried to market their products as 'proper' off road machines. They spent a fortune developing Terrain Response etc. so why oh why are they shifting into the 'pose' market?
From LR's own press release:

About Land Rover – Since 1948 Land Rover has been manufacturing authentic 4x4s that represent true 'breadth of capability' across the model range.
Including colour-coded bumpers it seemsI know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Watch out for the price rise / specification deletions.
Colour coding will cost substantially more to produce, and will require line build synchronization of bumpers, arch extensions so that the white disco gets white parts etc.

It's also much harder to get it looking right, build quality will have to get better as well. Ignoring the fact that the nearside door on the show car was the wrong colour, if you look carefully at the join between the arch and the wing, the gap is much more critical with everything the same colour. You can only just see it in this photo, but the gap wasn't even all the way around the arch. Bit shabby looking, like it's not finished properly. That's the joy of a contrasting colour - you don't even notice the gap!
It would be great if these were optional parts as I originally thought, but I fear not.2005 D3 HSE 2011 D4 Landmark 2016 D4 HSE Lux

Eugh.
I realise all the marketing dance anmd revenue-making philosophy behind it, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. It's as if they felt they had to do something to change it so they mucked about with the bumpers.
My worry is that Land Rover is being too influenced by the whole green epidemic. They want their vehicles to be less stereotypical bullish and rugged 4x4s and more city-sleek and smooth, making them look 'kinder'. That's what I first though about the LRX.
I wonder if it would look better in black?
Make it an option or, better, don't do it Land Rover . Is this the confirmed facelift then or are they just having a play about?2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Or alternatively, make it a no cost option to choose the original arches and bumpers. I bet there'll be a market for changing them back anyway!

Revised D3 2008/9
the landrover chronicles have the following from the Geneva Motor Show;
...Land Rover also premiered a refreshed Discovery 3 (LR3) with body colored bumpers. Were not sure if it’s a 2009 model year Discovery (LR3) or a mid-2008 model as Land Rover didn't specify this in the brief Geneva press release.
See http://www.thelandroverchronicles.com/ for pictures, although the body coloured bumpers don't show up too well in these.Discovery 3 XS Auto, Stornaway, Active rear diff.

That looks like they ran out of paint by the time they got to the bottom of the front arch and bumpers.
So does that.
Why the little section of trim that doesn't get painted?
That looks dated and old fashioned.
I like that one though Maybe we'll have to get a FL2.2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7
