Hmmm, the Defender has colour-coded wheel arches and they are actually very flexible. Whether they prove practical or not, it does make the D3 look taller and slimmer in those pics, which really doesn't work for me at all.
Vive la difference!I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Yes ND they are very flexible, however they do scrathc badly in teh dark colours and because they flex so nicely a scratch can soon lead to the paint "peeling" up
excellent if it looks slimmer I will have more room in parking spaces end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
Yeah, I must get some body-colour trousers.....I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

just had an awful thought
If their doing this to the D3 ........
what are they going to do with the accessories??
Body coloured RAI ?
Body coloured 'A' Frame?
Body coloured Expedition Rack incorporating some twinkly blue fairy lights?
They might even go down the max power look and offer body coloured windscreen wipers!!
Or even offer a little Vase on the dash [a la vw beetle] for our favorite flower?...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

As an owner of an already LR blinged wagon, here's my opinion.
The physical reworking of the parts is almost un-noticeable, it's just the colour coding that makes it look different (maybe taller - but it isn't!) After nearly 4 years the fact that so little has changed is testimony to such a good original design.
From experience there are good points to the painted bits, small scratches are easy to polish out. Larger damage can be resprayed. I have had branch scratches all the way along the passenger side, easily polished out of the paint work, but I cannot remove the scratches from the door handles or black plastic!!!
A small minority offroad the D3, most will buy it for other reasons. Land Rover will listen to a representative slice of the general public over any fan forum; as that is where their sales potential lies. To change nothing aesthetically will cause a drop in sales. (to do with fashion - whatever that is!)
What would be the opinion, if the D3 was launched with the 2009 look and then LR changed it to the 2004-8 look. I think words like 'cheapskates' would be banded around.
Going from a Cairns HSE to a Silver Metropolis took about 3 weeks to get used to. Very soon 2009s will be the norm and accepted, (and maybe even preferred!!) I get people commenting how they like the look of mine (less agricultural), nobody has ever told me they prefer otherwise.
Would anyone seriously not buy a D3 just because they don't like the colour coding? Whatever colour, bling or colour coding makes no difference to the purpose. D3 still rules.

Nice balance there Shiny
The most satisfactory outcome IMHO would be for black bits to be a no cost option for those that preferred them 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
