Only with the diagostini engine. If you buy like for like there is no doubt they are more expensive. And yes I’m Porker Paul and loving it.

The V6 was only £1500 more but that wasn't a factor for me choosing the 2.0 Smile

I didn’t realise D5 owners were such tight wads, £1500 for a mondeo type engine.

I couldn't afford to buy a D5 and was jealous, so I went and bought a Full Fat instead. Flawless logic! Rolling Eyes Laughing

Well, I am not sure what category I fit in?
Would definitely not spend my money on a D5.
Too expensive, customer care from both dealership and manufacturer utter rubbish, not to my liking design wise.

Having had the use of both diesel options for many weeks whilst they knocked mine about.

I can say I prefer the four cylinder type. It’s better packaged.

The way JLR conduct themselves means I am not a potential client ever again.

Hopefully they see sense in the future and build products for enthusiasts along with their new business favourites at present.

Oh, are they flogging off FFs cheap, not before time! Laughing

I did say there’s always an exception to the rule. Obviously you and Moo are the exceptions! Whistle

Have to agree with Chugga, it’s despite lousy dealers and LRCS, whom are totally abysmal and getting worse if it’s possible, that I purchased one.

You have a decent tax model, you pay cost of product plus VAT.. .. not so in many other countries, like the Netherlands, Ireland and Portugal.

They put a 'jealousy tax' on it, like we pay a CO2 tax on exhaust values on new vehicles.

Not that its makes a difference to the state, as 75% of the cars generating these taxes are bought by companies and deducted as running costs,
so the pay less other tax, resulting in zero gain for the government. Only private buyers are hit ; hence jealousy-tax..

And the road tax is based on weight, exept for trucks , they pay for a 30TONS truck only 5% of what I pay for my D3 ; based on 'road wear' ,
so logiccally you would pay less for an offroader.. Whistle .. not 20x more..

Not that a car 2x heavier is 2 times more expensive, no. Its rather a flat curve until you get above 1500Kg : then its almost a hyperbolical curve.
My D3 is 2.5 times the weight of a Smart diesel but I pay not 2.5 x € 524 , but 7 x € 524 ... Shocked

Now what happened is that they increased roadtax for private cars which don't have a dpf 'factory fitted',as of 2019 with 15%.
So I can pay € 3500 roadtax. In the UK thats GBP250 I believe , not even 10%..

So the value of my car went from € 12.500 last year to € 2.000 this year, if one can sell at all.
So I guess the state owe me € 10.000 in depreciaton due to their policy..

And you pay GBP 47.405- as for us it starts with.. €78.020,- for the base vehicle. To get our base on par it costs € 88.450,-... .. see my problem ?

Jesus, D5 is more expensive in NL than FI Mr. Green

D5 2.0 Td4 S is €51300 + vehicle tax €19035.59 = €70335.59
D5 3.0 Td6 HSE Lux is €74300 + €34772.02 = 109072.02
D5 3.0 Si6 HSE Lux is €74300 + €52564.14 = 126864.14

VAT 24% is included in the base price. Haven’t heard of any big rebates either.

Right now they’re selling pre-WLTP vehicles at these prices from distributor stock. With WLTP I imagine the prices will be jacked up more. One model of Toyota Landcruiser went up by 14 KEUR here because of that. Shocked

Yep. And the nicest thing is that soon we will be inundated with rejected German diesels as they fal lunder the old regime..

Resulting in dealers closing to not selling a doorhandle and obliged to give guarantee under EU rules to cars bought with German dealers..
.. and then nobody will buy a new car for a decade...

The avarage age of cars went from 7 to 11yrs in 2 yrs ... Shocked

Yep : importing cars older then the average as these are free of jealousy tax... Idea

My D3 was the top spec then, heat reflecting pilkington all-around and voice control... Laughing

The price at delivery then [ not to me Mr. Green ] was € 94.540,- ... [2006].
When I bought it in 2010 with 163.000kms I paid € 28.950 ... 8)

If I now want to buy a comparable used D4 it will be € 60.000 ... Shocked

When I bought it was recession and no one had money for these cars and there were hundreds for sale.

As of 2013 only 30% was sold as compared to 2004/2005/2006 and demand is high : economy booming.

The recession put -25% on the price, economy now +30% , so you end up with around 50% difference in price... Big Cry
