In the Netherlands there are camera's every where. Suppose you don't tax it and do so for six months, this means you didn't pay € 1750..
If they get you on camera the fine is 2x € 1750 ánd you have to pay the backtax.. € 5250... Nobody drives without paying taxes unless
they stole someone's license plates or simply the whole car... Crime is solved here with 5% [major] but speeding and roadtax 99% pay !!
So you better pay your roadtax and rob a money transports.. ..easier and more profitable..
But if you do, use a stolen car otherwise they still find you..

Having had a second loan Disco 5 I would definitely say NO, I wouldn't buy one.
Got a 68 plate loaner while my Disco 4 is having the oil warning light sensor/loom changed and its done just over 2K.
This morning its telling me it needs a service in 4000 miles!
Most of my journey is motorway to and from work is motorway with town at the end of to work and start going home.
Compared to the RRS they lent me in March the D5 is the poor brother. Poor road manners, twitchy over the joins in the motorway, unresponsive acceleration when you first move away, slow infotainment system, intermittent rear camera and yesterday all the exterior light started to phase continually and had to shut down and lock the car to stop it! Oh and the soft touch interior that marks as soon as you look at it.
I feel that JLR have tried to make the D5 too much like the Range Rover where the Disco should be an 'all rounder', animal off road, thug at pulling trailers and a gentleman driving up the the stately home.
With the oil dilution problems and Land Rover assist now being owned by the AA providing non existence service I would consider coming away from LR after 13 years of ownership.
In the meantime I will continue to enjoy my D4.

I am seeing a lot more D5s about now and I happily concede that the D4 is beginning to look old. Been to see the XC90 and like it but they have put up list prices by a sizeable amount twice this year. The big Merc thing (can't remember it's name) has a dash which makes the D4 look new so choices are limited!2014MY Discovery

If you read the D3/4 faults page you wouldn’t buy one of them either, in fact if you read any LR forum you wouldn’t set foot near a LR showroom.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Too true, after I signed for my D4 order and read the forums I did wonder if I'd made the right choice of car. But I'm happy I did, my D4 caused no more issues than any other car I've owned. My VW also had a blown turbo hose and brake light switch issues.
There are a number of people verifying the oil dilution with actual tests which show the dilution not being anywhere near what the D5 service indicator suggests. Software update N222 also looks to show a positive result although that hasn't been out that long so time will tell.

I think the D5 “haters” would really love one, but just can’t afford it, hence the jealousy, which comes out when they slag it off. Just saying.
I've got to ask, who thinks the asking price of a D5 is reasonable... Affordable is a matter for personal circumstance but to match the spec on my D4 the asking price for the D5 is frankly riduculous, and when reminded by the wife that I could buy 2 brand new TOTR dacia dusters, a world cruise AND have a new conservatory for the price of the D5 I have to agree..www.southeast4x4response.org.uk Responder of 9 years service SE140

It’s in line with most things today. When I purchased my D4 in 2012 it was roughly £45k. The D5 in 2018 was £55k or thereabouts, both discounted prices I have to say, so I wouldn’t say the price rise was massive.

my SE Tech D4 was 42k in Oct 2015, a 3Ltr SE D5 to the same spec/options was just shy of 60k using the Builder tool. Thats just too much.
I have been tempted (although still not convinced by the D5) but think I will be looking at something else when change time comes.

My entry level D3(new) was iirc £28,000, my 16MY entry level D4 SE was £42k (£47k for SE Tech November 2015) my mid spec D5 with more kit excluding options was only £51k. The price hike on the 5 ain’t that bad23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I just bought a 2yrs old BMW 2 series SPORTS LINE tourer.. ... 30% of the price of a 2016 D4/D5..
Its not tóó high to get in, has plenty of space , VERY good seats [better then D5] , has V6 ambitions
[ 3-cylinder with noiseless propulsion ], comes with 2yrs factory warranty and 3 yrs maintenance
included ...
And no : it can't go offroad...
But I still have a D3 for that...

Why not rename the post, “why I hate the D5” it would be more apt and understandable with all the vitriol kicking about.
