Wrong ... the G class looks like a Cosy Coupe built in a Minecraft world. A great big pile of if you ask me. Even a 2CV has better aerodynamics than that. No mummy worth her collection of Jo Malone candles would be seen in that G-Class pile of junk.
And anyway, why have one of those things when you can get a LR Autobiography?
I drove past our local Bentley garage the other day. They had one of the monstrous Bentayga's on the forecourt with a roof rack on it. Now THAT made me
I got familiar with G wagens during my time in the FDF. We used them as ambulances among other things so I don’t quite associate it with playful things like Cosys perhaps mummies are smarter than armed forces purchasing departments, however...
The Bentleys, Astons, Maseratis and such have never really made it for me.
If someone made a retro square corner Volvo 850 I’d buy it in a heartbeat even at £150000

In the UK it may not stand out so much. But the GBP went DOWN in relation to the Euro, and as the JLR cars for europe are produced in the UK,
unit cost must have gone down when converted to Euro. But no : although the change in exchange rates they still put the prices on the continent up with 5%, giving them effectively a 20% increase ...
But wait , are they selling at that price ? I don't think so. An Evoque convertible diesel costs around € 90.000,- here , list price. They offer the dealer test cars and a 20k discount after ten months and they still don't sell !

I have seen ONE on the road in the Netherlands, ever... And D3/D4 I see on a daily basis,
beyond my own car ofcourse ...
And : a lot of dealers don't have it in the showroom. Or they have one, next to 3 Evoques and two DS.
The last surprises me as DS also are a rare sight. I do not recall seeing one on the road ever.
Maybe because from the front they look simular to the Evogue.
Sales figures say each model sold about 600 times in 2017 . Around 660 DS and 616 Evoque.
Comparing this to the D4/D5 figures they aren't doing bad with the D5. In 2013 they sold 55 D4
against 629 Evoques, Now they sold 142 D5 against 616 Evoques. But 142 D5 on 2200 D3/D4,
don't really stand out.
Given this village was flooded before by D4 , RRS and RR, now I see some Evoque and Lots of XC90 and XC60's .
Some years ago the premium on a XC90 to a D4 was € 10.000,-. Now its € 35.000.
I think JLR overplayed its hand on the pricing side of the game.
To safe their marbles the'll have to put the D4 on the market, stripped of leather and expensive
parts, in a single model, quit complete with gizzmo's for around € 72.000,- . They might recover
their numbers that way. Maybe the 'Discovery Retro' ???

Apart from one parked daily in a factory car park on a large trading estate they are a rare site on my travels around here. Loads of most other JLR products. Even the odd Velar.2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

Well I have braved looking at the D5 again on the assumption that they tidy up the back end eventually. The killer for me was the middle row seats, could not believe how they were on the floor. Jumped in a RRS back seat and they were fine. What have they done with the D5? Volvo here we come.2014MY Discovery

I didn’t think the backseats where that bad, but when I sat in the back of the Velar it was night and day, granted the space wasn’t as good but definitely comfier.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

You can find all reports in JLR investor relations including monthly retail. The quarterly reports are also interesting reading if you like numbers. Latest is December 2017 so one would assume January figures will be available sometime in early February.
You may think of all the numbers as set in stone since it is financial data and relates to company performance. Making s t up there leads to lawsuits and people spending time in the big house. If they correct something retroactively it needs to be explained like they did in the last annual report where they restated some numbers...
