I'm not surprised really, too expensive, looks ugly, lost it's 'niche' and there are now many other better and cheaper alternatives for a big family/luxury SUV
Reality check LR - luxury buyers will go for a Velar/RRS or FFRR unless they need 7 seats
Where are the big selling lower end products? There is a huge market out there in the £20-30k price bracket that other brands are devouring2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

The Velar is way overpriced and not selling well.
Over on the RRS forum there were lots of owners thinking it might be their next car util they found it was more expensive than a RRS when configured.

I'm not persuaded by the argument that D5 sales eat into RRS and Velar. They're different beasts.
Personally, my current inclination is to look for something other than a D5 when I eventually get shot of my D4. I can't get away with the look of the back end and it's over-priced (though to be fair most current LR products are overpriced IMO).

Not sure I understand people’s obsession with the D5 sales figures.
The D5 was never going to out sell the D4, given the increase in price. Also LR have just jacked up the price by about £3k.
That said though I’ll be looking to sell mine pretty soon, looking at BMW 530d touring or maybe just the 520d, seems to be good deals. £8k dealer contribution on the 530d. I don’t need the bulk of a Disco. LRs prices are getting too high and the quality just doesn’t match it, not impressed with my D5 at the moment, not what I expected for £54k. The Velar IMO is way overpriced, I kitted out an F-Pace and a Velar to similar specs, the Velar was about £17k more. Is the RR badge really worth that?23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Surely LR are interested in profit not turnover, just because the numbers of units are lower it doesn't mean the profit is.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Funny to see the once-derided RRS now being the best selling proper* LR product.
* Proper as in fully capable. The Evoque and DS are sadly lacking in some key areas.
Interesting also that the lowest capability products are the best sellers in the Evoque and DS. I guess that is one reason why LR don't worry about the moans of the traditionalists.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

The low spec Evoque and DS are the best sellers because they have low CO2 so make it onto company options lists
Hence my earlier comment about the big void of lower end choice from LR, they are going all out for high end which is a shame as I'd prefer them to be offering a good mid band product (e.g. Defender replacement) that is more affordable and slightly less luxurious albeit it doesn't need to be hard-core off-road.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Yeah, cars affected between 2006-2011.
There’s a lot to like about the D5, but just a few things that’s taking the shine off it at the moment.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
