The killer for me was the middle row seats, could not believe how they were on the floor. Jumped in a RRS back seat and they were fine. What have they done with the D5? Volvo here we come.
The D5 may be the black 🐑 of the LR family and I understand that, but I struggled to see the appeal of an XC90 over the D4 when I went to look at one. Is it the XC90 that you’re looking at and what is it that marks it out over, say, a RRS? 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

In relation to cranks, I wonder if there are people on the Volvo forums blowing their instances of failures out of all proportion as well? 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Fortunately, that only afflicts the D5. There are still some perfectly sound designs at LR as well, like the RRS, FF and even the Velar is very handsome, if a bit compromised. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

What I find surprising is that after the much anticipated arrival of the D5, the number of D3/4 Forum members that are going elsewhere for their next car. The XC90 seems to be the car of choice. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

Perhaps you should start a thread with a poll to check out your theory regarding what Disco owners have actually bought?

I’m going back to a d4 as the d5 is just wrong...first year in 8 I’ve not had a new Land Rover and I’ve had every model. The dealers say I’m not the only one...this is the first year in 10yrs LR dealer rung me to buy a car and it was a d5, that told me everything in a call! Mike

It will have to get worse, a lot worse, than this before the board members become brave enough to tell His Gerryness that he needs to stand up, because it’s coming out muffled.
Having said that, there are many parallels with Chris Bangle and BMW managed to sort even him out in the end, so there’s hope! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Interesting their best seller is the DS which has been the most complained about LR imho based on 16 years LR ownership and various forums - it's also the LR that ended my LR vehicles ownership Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

That's pretty much built on Jaguar in China... but for how long?
I fear we've already gone past the point where a few tweaks to the D5 will help the LR brand now. They've completely left the utilitarian market... it's gone, finished, kiss it goodbye! All LR's eggs are now in the luxury, fashion, yummy mummy brigade, and the figures suggest the D5 isn't that appealing to those types either. LR forgot what made LR's image so attractive... and it has nothing to do with off-set number plates.
Yes I'm still angry!
P.S We could do our own poll... how many disco members on here now don't drive full fat disco's - that'll tell you all you need to know about the sales figures! 2005 D3 HSE

That’s a good idea! Something like:
Of those that have moved on:
How many have moved on to a D5?
How many have moved on to something else?
Of those that have moved on to something else, would you have either bought another new D4 (if it had been available) or a D5, if it hadn’t fallen short of expectations? 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
