My contact at the WITURA factory in China are posted underneath. They quoted me $60,- per unit (for us eur. 45,-) ex-factory, so you should consider some transport costs (small parcel with UPS, I would say around 15-20 eur. max). If you order one they can send it as 'sample' so no import taxes are due. If you order a bunch, the price will drop I'm sure, but you can't get away with the sample format. I have no idea what import taxes are due on this.
Just to add to this, I obtained my unit from the following contact. A bit more expensive than Witura direct, but very responsive and will take payment by Paypal and they are happy to send out a "sample".

Just a little update ,as today was the first morning i have had to try it with a nice frost.
Started my car via the phone
There was frost on the windscreen , lights and bonnet.
After about 10 mins the ice / frost was starting to melt on the bonnet .
After 20 mins i went out to the car , all ice on the bonnet gone , ice from headlights gone ,and two thirds of the windscreen had cleared ( the divers side last bit still had small amount on it)
Got in and put heated screen on ..took about 30 seconds to remove what was left.
Car temp was just below half way ...
When you first start the car the temp guage drops as the hot water is then circulated more with the water pump .
But still warm air comming out ..and a engine that is nice and warm ..so no damage from cold hard starting ...
All in all a very worth while mod. Can't wait till it starts snowing ...watching my neighbours scraping the snow off there cars
hi,
Which GSM system did you use as i have just seen a new one called gsm-auto which has a built in timer and time clock which means you do not need to use the webaso timer or controller.
This system i gather youjust hook up to the pre heater and set the time run when you call the unit.
The gsm-auto als has a built in 24 hour timer which you can set remotely.
The site is www.gsm-auto.com

Does your gsm unit output a W-BUS signal ...i dont think so ....thats why you need the webasto timer as this does .
The W-BUS signal is needed to turn the FBH on
I used the gsm unit on the first page of the post G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Gsm units were purchased from Ebay ..they were on for £129 each + postage ..got 2 for £250 all in .
Unfortunalty , no blowers .Have spoke to webasto and its a no no ..to much involved.
However phone it 15 mins before i go out and the temp guage is reading half way in the car , so instant warm air when i put the heaters on .
Hi
I run the ebay shop where the GSM controls were purchased, now I am not advertising but there is a more suitable alternative to this unit, it has 2 x 30 amp relay contacts these can be programmed to switch on for a pre-determined length of time, so is a timer needed? It also comes in an IP66 rated enclosure so no need for another box and has block connectors, if you want more details or have any questions contact me, or if Martin will allow I can put a link to the website or give you the search terms to find it

Hi Terry ,
Yes they still need the Webasto timer as its that that puts out the W-BUS signal that controls the operation of the fuel burning heater .
If you could make one that sends out a W-BUS signal upon activation ..you would be on to a winner G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Back in March this year terry48 asked whether the fuel burning heater could be controlled without a timer unit?
Wigges responded " Not at the moment ..although there is someone looking into controlling it a different way ..cant say any more at the mo".
Is there any update available - I would like to have better (& remote) control of my FBH.

Hi just wondered what the latest position on operating the Webasto heater using a mobile to operate it, tried going through the replies but they are probably now a little out of date.

You will need the followind
1, A GSM dialer with at least one 12v output
2, A webasto 1533 oval timer or another webasto timer that will output a W-bus signal
3, A sim card that does not have a pin number activated or voicemail setup
4, The original step by step guide that was issued on this forum nearly 2 years ago
In a nutsheel you will need to do a bit of soldering on the back of the 1533 timer which is clearly shown in step 4 of the above and link this to the output of your GSM dialer. From the 1533 timer a single wire will need to be connected from the w-bus output to pin 2 of the webasto heater.
There are a number of people on the forum who will supply and install the kit necessary to do it if you dont fancy tackling it yourself. Hope this helps.
I've had my webasto controlled by phone for nearly two years now and it still gives me a buzz when I ring it and watch out of the window as the tell tail smokes comes from underneath the car to let me know it is warming up prior to me getting in.Club Exped trailer
