Doing a Webasto in my Disco , I have all the bit here on the table . (setting up with a remote)
I went to maplin and got a Quasar Uk radio remote Control (DSBL-3)
Just trying to get my head round this device
I have 12v+ and GND , so no problem here.
I also Have NC/COM/NO
First Question ? NC or NO . (Im guessing NO , )
The second question and this a bit more confusing , The Instructions state
"Each relay provides a "switch" output , these connections may be used to
switch your application circuit. When the transmitter is operated the Switch
is operated . The Action of the switch outputs is set by the "Option Link (the two pins protruding from the PCB marked Option) The jumper link is made/removed by the small Shortlink 'cap' placed over the pin header
Connected : The output toggles on each successive transmitter press.
Open: The output is activated for duration of the transmitter operation.
So If Im reading this correctly what they are saying is you can set this thing
in two ways .
1. )Press the key fob once and the switch moves from COM - NC to COM - N0 , press it again and the switch moves back to COM-NC
OR
2. ) Press the key fob and the switch moves from COM-NC to COM-NO and then back to COM-NC
I assume its Option Two Im after ?
Here is my problem , the PCB Board I have differs from the instructions that came with it (different revision of board
and to lazy to up date the instructions) I have six pairs of pins (all u-jumped) none of the pins is marked "option"
Has any one used this remote unit and had a similar experience ? or am I missing something here

Try it with what ever it has come out of the box .
You only need a quick dab of the NO contacts to simulate pressing the flame button on the oval timer .
You can test the 12v out on the oval timer to see if it latched over okG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Cheers Wiggs , No thats a help Ok
Your views are the way I was thinking . Good to get a second pair of eyes on it
I just Jumped the jumpers one at a time to see what the results would be
and I have it working now , when i press the fob now (I have this wired up to a 12v on my desk)
I can hear the relay click twice now (moving from COM-NC to COM-NO and then back to COM-NC)
Sorted

This is where I put my LED for normal running of FBH
Just thought I would share with you where I have located my LED for normal running condition of the FBH .. Its not in your face and can be seen from normal driving position.

Perhaps when I had trouble with my GSM unit and explained that leaving it open for anybody was not an option as its connected to my car he went trawling the tinternet
Regarding my problems with my GSM unit, anyone having trouble programming the GSM unit, getting it to text you etc try changing the sim.
I used Vodafone sim first and it would never text me or program correctly, changed to an Orange sim now and it all works fine, only last little problem is that my mobile number is the only one that cant activate it! Partners phone works fine, so did my boss' phone at work when I borrowed his to try!
I assume problems now with my phones sim which I've had since late 90's (simcard not the phone ) so i'm going to ask Vodafone to pop a new simcard in the post to me and hopefully that will sort it!
At the moment not too much of a problem as other halfs always up before me in the mornings so I just say "remember to phone Disco!"

have you tried clearing all the messages off the SIM. whilst "normal" text messages ae stored on phones, or in the case of my GSM remote they are stored and then deleted.... System messages are stored on the the SIM and the memory gets full. these are usually all the rubbish messages that get sent by the bearer. You will need to put the SIM in a phone and then "delete system text messages" and all should be fine ....... hopefully...Duncan

Hi Dunc,
both simcards I tried where totally clean, topped up, free from pin requests, nothing on them at all, just for some reason the GSM unit didn't like the Vodafone sim but is fine with Orange
Everything works fine now apart from the fact that my mobile won't activate the GSM unit/FBH. I've programmed in my number same as the other phones i've tried (ie miss off the 0 from the mobile number) and my phone is set to send caller ID but it cuts me off when I ring the GSM unit like it does for numbers not programmed in.
Only thing I can assume is as its a really old sim, when I ring the GSM unit its not sending a correct caller ID, so in effect the GSM unit believes that I am not allowed access.
Still every other mobile I program into it works so fine and its got to be better than before when I couldn't program it and Vodafone kept setting off the FBH anytime of the day or night!

Also, my box (rfsolutions.co.uk) wont accept the older sim cards (5v I think)
Extract from my manual but bearing in mind its a different box..
Only 3 Volt SIM cards will be correctly read and older 5 Volt types will be ignored.
2. Some types of pay-as-you-go SIM cards may require regular call activity (once every six
months) to remain registered.
3. SIM cards that have been protected by means of a PIN (in a mobile phone) will not
operate in the unit.
4. Incoming voice calls to the SIM card should be barred before it is used in the GSM 250
unit to avoid any error messages being sent back to the user. This can be achieved by
calling the service provider.
5. The message memory of the SIM card should be clear before it is fitted to the 250 unit.Duncan

Sorry, odd question time, and I haven't read the thread.
But what if you're on holiday [Caribean] for 2 weeks, and you happen to hit your 'quick dial webasto' button by mistake.
What happens then ....
apart from your D3 being toast for when you get back!
...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

It either runs for its 30 mins "burn" time, heating your engine up nice and snug for no reason
or if you notice you accidentally just rung the car, you give it 2 mins so as not to annoy the tempermental FBH and his start up process (god bless 'im!) and ring it again and it will shut down 8)
