Yes it should, the voltage Duncan is getting is the 'floating' voltage of the un-terminated control input

Woohoooo.....
swapped the wires over to Terminal 2 and it worked OK
So I thought, yep it must be Terminal 1. I swapped wires back to Terminal 1 to recheck before phoning the supplier and woohooo, it work WTF
Anyway, its working so thats all that matters. Have no idea why it didnt work, maybe a dodgy connection to the terminal block but i cant see how.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm just hoping its very cold tomorrow morning....... which brings me on to my next question.... this may be the wrong thread to ask so please move "mods" if need be.
I have a blackberry 8320 and want to create some sort of TEXT template so I dont have to keep typing in the commands all the time. I dont want to use the TEXT that have been "sent" and resend them but instead have them stored somewhere. I havnt even thought about how to do this i have just ask you lot first so apologies if its really simple and i should have RTFM
EDIT , I can save the messages Duncan

Did you change the length of activation from 5 sec to 1 sec?

Yes, but also it worked on 5 seconds after I switched it back.
At least i think it did , ive changed both channels to 1 second now, althought is takes a good 3 seconds before the relay switches off.
The timer doesnt become active until after the relay has reopened the circuit
Thanks for the advice
Oh, I cant find any command to delay the input channel going to ring the supplier now Duncan

No no way of delaying the input. However,
they are just about to release a unit that also acts as a Tracker and can display the location of the vehcile on Google Earth. You can also set a geofence so that if the vehicle leaves the designated area it will send a text.
£350 for the whole solution and no ongoing service costs other than mobile text costs. Duncan

How much current does this draw? Must be a heck of a lot! Wouldn't fancy leaving it on too long without the engine running...

Question for discodunc I think...
I have also purchased the RF box and I have now installed everything.
What settings did you set on the RF box mine is all systems go from the timer and when i short the two wires (the ones soldered too the back of the timer) but I cant seem to get the RF box to switch it on ??? I know its not a problem with the channel (like yours) as I have tested and both come on and off fine so I think it must be the time delay function (ODEL1 x).
I have mounted my LED in the grill in the Land rover oval badge so its easy to remove (just put on a new badge) and visable from the front at all angles.
Please help got to get it finished before SHMBO returns from work as I have the car in bits and I told her I was working (in my office) all day. You can never have too many toys...

I have ODEL1 set to 1 (second). but it did work when set to 5.
I'm not the best to ask re the timer wiring as TFC fitted mine.
Have you set up the password correctly and do you get the "OK" confirmation when you send an on command
ie
you send "<pasword> OUT1 ON"
and get back "<id nos> OUT1 ON OK" Duncan

I've been having some trouble with my GSM unit too.
First off I couldn't program it by text like I was supposed to be able to so that it would only accept my number when I ring. I wasnt too worried as it was a new simcard and only I had the number, but a couple of mornings Disco had a totally flat battery, and then sat in the car one lunch time the FBH heater fired up by itself!
Seems Vodafone might have wanted to get in contact with me!
So, got a new Orange simcard and now I can text the GSM unit to program and it texts back fine unlike the previous sim!
Obviously didn't like Vodafone.
My last problem I thought i'd see if anyone here could help....
GSM unit has "Access Mode" which can either be "off" allowing any number to ring and start the FBH, or can be "on" allowing only pre programmed numbers. With Access mode off FBH starts and stops fine by phone, but I can't get it to work with access mode on.
You can program numbers up to 11 digits as pre approved numbers, any more numbers it says miss them off on the left hand side. It also says miss off any country codes (eg +44/0044)
My mobile number is 11 digits and the GSM unit has texted back to say I have programmed the number correctly but no matter what I program it in as, it will not work.
I've tried programming my number in as the following (you can program upto 99 numbers/positions)
Position 1 :077########
Position 2 : 77######## (just in case it shows up as +4477### etc)
Position 3 : ######## (no 077/77)
GSM unit is http://www.quantekshop.co.uk/GSM.html
Any ideas anyone

I've just installed my GSM unit today. The unit should be programmed with the last 10 digits of your phone numbers.
e.g. if your number is 07973 123 456, then program 7973123456
Cheers,
Andy
