You have apprehended me evil (poorly).I have Ford Mondeo, and I want to install webasto Thermo Top V in my car.I don't have this 8-pins plug.I search her designation.
Ok I have installed the timer & GSm unit and wired it all up, but it wont fire up. I dial the number and the GSm unit picks up the call, the timer then shows the flame signal on the display. I have 12 volts at pin 2 on the heater but nothing.
I have rechecked all my wires and all seems ok. I have disconnected the unit for an hour and still nothing, could it be my battery needs a boost, the heater runs in auto mode ok when I start the engine.. any ideas ??????
thanks Flack

On the back of the oval timer you should be sending the W-BUS signal to the FBH pin 2 not the 12v supply
Thanks for the reply wiggs, my connections where ok I have unplugged the unit and I will leave it for a couple of hours and then try again.
Ok guys a result after leaving it disconnected for about two and half hours then connecting it back up it fired up in to life. One question though can you run it with the car locked or would it set the alarm off with battery drain.
that's what the timer is there for, to run the heater when the car is locked. It won't trigger the alarm. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
Thanks for clearing that up, is there a max time the heater will run for and then shut down when this time is reached. I don't want to break anything if I forget its running.
It runs for 30 minutes by default. 40 minutes is about the max you can get away with because of the way the system draws fuel from a fuel sump forward of the main tank. Any more than 40 minutes (or less than that if the car is parked on a slope) and the heater may run out of fuel, which in turn may lead to poor starting of the car (as I understand the sump is used in priming the fuel pumps?) and could lead to your heater locking out. Running the heater also eats into the battery, so excessive use over time may lead to the battery failing prematurely.
Don't be put off by the above; if you run it for 30-40 minutes you should be fine.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Will install GSM+timer!
Hi guys, (well yes, hardly any women here...)
I will be installing a GSM unit (I found a Witura box!) and webasto timer according to your instructions nex Wednesday, just before I will go into the snow with my D3. I found a webastodealer here in Antwerp/Belgium who's very interested in doing this together with me. He has had so many inquiries from LR drivers..... Keeps you wondering why webasto or LR haven't come up with a solution. He'll through in his time, the timer and plugs e.a.. I have to bring the GSM box and Coverbox. Great!
I'll let you know how it went.
Thanks again all of you for sharing this knowledge, giving your comments, et cetera. Power of internet + Passion for LR!

would this unit also be ok, i says it has a max input voltage of 14v. as D3 charges slightly above this, will that cause a problem ?
ThanksDuncan

Problem fitting timer+GSM box on webasto
Hi all,
I've been fitting a WITURA GSM box and timer to my D3 today. Everything works fine! Great!
My dad has a D3 too, so I wanted to fit a unit on his too. However, he has one of the first D3 models and on the 2port/pole (to use for W-bus) there's already a red wire. I found a post on it, but I do not understand it entirely.
Quote:
Cut it off and use the pig-tail to connect to - DONT tap into the wire with it still connected to the ATCU
It's possible you may also need a software update for the FFBH / ATCU
(stapldm's post, page 6)
What's the pigtail?
What is the ACTU? and where can I disconnect it?
In essence; I understand I cannot just join the red wire that's already there and connect the W-bus from the timer? please help!
[/img]
You can connect to the red wire, but you MUST cut the wire and only connect to the piece that goes into the FBH. The other cut end should be insulated and CANNOT be connected to the timer/GSM.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
