Just got around to buying all the bits and starting to assemble the gsm in the box. I am not sure which port to use as there are two on my unit.
The left port has common RED .. Black is Normally 12 volts DC and goes to zero volts when activated.
And then two yellow wires normally zero volts and goes to 12 volts when activated and Alarm Input apply 12 volts to activate text alert.
The right-hand port has 12-24 Volts AC/DC Red and Black is ground, then the two yellow wires are labelled normally open Dry Contacts
The GSM is a New Dial2open WT009 2 Outputs and 1 Input. My gut feeling is to use the right port but I thought I would ask the experts first before I blow it up

Hi Wiggs thanks for the reply I am at work at the moment but you can see it here at this web address and I think the right hand port is the correct one as it's used in this video to open a barrier gate.

Yeh i would go for the right ..although you could use a couple from the left port
2 yellows on the right port go to the 2 wires soldered to the oval timer ..
Red and the back on right port look like the 12 v input red and black (to power the unit)
Good find stapldm
If you want it to text you back connect 12+ out from webasto ( like they have been connecting an LED to ) to the alarm input on the left port and a 12 v - to the red common ground ( left port )..although you may not need the negativeG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Wiggs, in hinesight your right about the solution I found in germany. The are not sure there solution will work with the Disco 3 anyway. See underneath their reply to my mail inquiry. I was hoping for a 'quick fix' but it seems I have to make an effort with the GSM box. Problem is: I haven't found a supplier nearby yet. Love welding etc, but electrics are not my talent...
Thanks for your reply.

There is a software called "thermotest" as freeware on the market. This
software is provided by webasto and allows garage to check the auxiliary
heater e.g. Thermotop-V.
Most important, you can switch on the heater by the software, regardless
of the type of the heater (auxiliary heater, parking heater, thermotop-V,
thermotop-C ...) as long as you get acess to the heater via the "w-bus".
We suceeded in extract the code and data protocoll and put it into a
µ-controller. So our W-Bus converter works with almost every Thermotop-v.
Unfortunately it turns out, that there are probably different protocolls.
I still waiting of 2 Thermotop-V from a junk yard which did not work with
the converter to check the potocoll.
Anyway, we could test the exising version with the Disco 3. You simple
have to connect the data-line to PIN2 of the Thermotop-V and the power
supply to the converter. If it doesn't work, we will reprogram the µC.
Maybe you have the possibility the test your heater with the Software?
