FWIW I used to swear by scotchlocks, but after a total failure of a self installed alarm system (sounded 5 times a night even when not armed; 3" snow and -5c - not happy) I changed my mind.
AutoElectrician fixing said alarm said they loved them, 'cos after 2-3 years they'd corrode slightly and start causing problems, bringing more work their way. He showed me the nice green wires at the contact point that caused enough of a voltage drop for the alarm to think it was being removed. I stick with soldering iron and glue filled heat shrink in the engine bay now, or fit any joins in a sealed waterproof box. Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

webasto remote control solution |
|
Found several interesting post on the Webasto remote control by phone. Great self made solutions. For those (like me) that aren't up to doing it ourselves (time, knowledge, fuss), this is the 'in the box' solution and still much cheaper than any Webasto specialist could offer me.

just fitted an LED (well almost).
I cut the wires, extended and crimped the wires together then use heat shrink to seal them. All seems ok and my LED flashed.
Only thing is , I cant find anywhere to get the LED into the car. My hole in the aux battery box is now completely full. Anyone know an easy way in without removing the main battery, fuse box etc etc. Duncan

Has anyone tried ww.followus.co.uk to track phones.
I was thinking of using this to track the SIM in the GSM modem. That way I can check the car is where I left it and identify its location if it gets nicked.......which hopefully it wont.. Duncan

Duncan ..theres another grommet right down in the bottom left hand corner of the aux battery box ( well there is on mine cause i took it out today ...)
Bit awkward to get from inside the aux battery box ..but quite easy to get to from inside ..
Look right down below the main wiring loom ..beneath the ABS steel pipes
If you cant find it i will point it out to you tommorow when i see you . G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

LED installed - connect to the circulation pump. Ive puit it just at the front of the dashboard below the window on the drivers side. It indicates when the FBH is running whether it is fired up by the car of remotely.
Thanks to
TFC for sorting me out with the pump wiring.
and Wiggs for showing me his magic hole. It was a bit stiff getting the wire in but a bit of lubrication helped Duncan
