There's an +ve out on the four-pin connector. If you've got the timer wired up correctly, you're using three of the pins (+ve in, -ve in, w-bus out) and that leaves a 12v +ve out. If you connect that to the anode (longer leg) on an LED and earth the other leg of the LED you have an indicator I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Many thank TFC, so do i simply connect the black wire to the LED +ve and the pink to the -ve

Black = +ve
Brown = -ve (no wiring colour change indicated, but it may look 'pink' after a couple of years of engine bay heat)
Just wire the LED across those and you'll have a visible indication of FBH activity

Fuel pump is pin 5 on the large connector, white & blue wire, this is a +ve output so you'd need to connect the LED's cathode to vehicle -ve as an alternative to the circulation pump method above, note that neither the circulation pump or the fuel pump outputs are active immediately upon FBH activation

what is the diameter of each of these two cables?
would a 'scotchlock' type connector be OK to use for this?

If you mean black and brown then there .75mm each

OK now off to find a couple of those scotchlok thingys, some wire, a led holder and a nice bright blue led...
anything I've forgotten?
apart from to TfC for the wiring info ...
