I think this thread is covering both options now. There is no reason why you can't site an LED wherever you like. If its connected to the OUT pin, and earth it will light up when the remote is used.
The other issue is to have an in car indication of when the FBH is running, whether via the timer, remote or car demand.
No reason why you cant have both

Well its nearly all done, only the dash to wire up to the water pump when i get a new red LED that is bright eniough, then i know if the heater is running no matter what has activated it, car or timer.
I mounted the timer in the centre console in the roof and took the timer feeds from the power roof plug that is not used in my RRS.
Changed the original 15A power roof fuse for a smaller one so its all safe etc etc.
Used the same type of LED in my head light as ive fitted to the side lights powerd from the OUT.

Can anyone help me locate a GSM remote please. I'm looking for one that is :
1) self contained in a case, ie not just a circuit board
2) two or more outputs controlled by text messages
3) capable of texting back to my mobile to confirm status etc
ive looked at the two links suggested by Wiggs but I'm not sure if they are suitable for me. one is in German so i could end up ordering sausages and the other doesnt look as if it meets my requirements.
I want two outputs cos as some point after xmas I'll ask TFC to connect the second channell upto my heated front windscreen
I just thought Id replace my current RF remote with a gsm one myself.
all help appreciated
ThanksDuncan

Why do we do this stuff when it's cold? I've spent the morning freezing my chuff off outside installing my timer and remote
I sooooo wish I'd done it in the autumn!!!I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

There are a few timers here
many thanks
another Q if anyone can help. Spoke to TFC about my LED and he advised I splice off the pump wires. All sounded easy then when I got home, I had forgotten what wires to splice into
there are two wires from the heater to the pump, a black and a pinky colour wire.
i can only test them when the plug is unplugged but the pin on the timer that coressonds to the black wire is a permanent live and the pin that corresponds to the pink wire has no current through it (even when the heater is activated - bearing in mind the plug is unplugger). I gues its some sort of live earth ,
do i splice into the pink for the led +ve and ground to chassis the -ve end of led ?
ThanksDuncan
