I still think you need to be able to reset or may be even code the air bag ECU
went through the iid and went to the service section
then onto reset airbag module to service condition which i didn't
light goes out for about 3-4 seconds then will come back on
as 2 x of the codes have gone after replacing the curtain airbags i would then assume they are ok
don't know if it's an airbag fault of wire problem in the loom
shame there isn't a special airbag tester , so i could then plug the airbags in one by one and then know 100% it's ok or isn't

i am so grateful to everyone who is helping me with this
been like banging my head against the wall
really frustrating
think the next port of call will be the clock spring
got an old impact sensor, tested that with a multimeter set on ohms, is an open circuit
so will test all 4 x impact sensors
thought there was only 3 of them, found one in the drivers door
will update this , so it may help others
also giving u guys some peace of me going on

Sorry but cannot see the clock spring being the issue as the fault code says right side air bag, the clock spring does the steering wheel air bag only doesntMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

bless u russell for the help
am keeping my sanity, just
the only airbag left then will be in the seat
have had that out and looked ok , but no way of testing it
think if i plug in the spare seat airbag can at least eliminate it
is suppose to be a nice day tommorow
thks again

Would be worth a try if you have a spare. Have you checked all the other air bags to see if they are present and that all the plugs are correctly connected, make sure all the pins are in place and none bent or miss aligned.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

hi russell
thanks
with all the headlining out and panels i've
checked that all impact sensors are present , x4
every air bag is present
have removed the steering wheel airbag when i fitted the cruise control and airbag was all plugged in
but i think that's a great point , of starting again and going through , checking all the pins etc are ok
think it will also be a good idea to remove the impact sensors and check them with a multimeter , as i havent done that yet
sunday , will write out a list of what i will be checking , can then at least process a plan of some elimination
am worried in one sense if there's a break in a wire somewhere
hardest part is not being able to use a multimeter on the airbags to test them, as i know u mustn't do that, as it can trigger the airbag
thks again and looks like i've got a busy day tomorrow,
ps, when i first found out the faults it had
passenger pretensioner had gone off, , now replaced
drivers side curtain airbags missing , also replaced

tested all sound
set meter on ohms
then got continuity on both plugs
so now onto the seat airbag
checked connector plug, all the wires look sound and in there terminals
looked at pins also on the clock spring and connectors, no bent pins
only thing i can think of now is the seat airbag , running out of options

hi pete
many thks
been reading through the forum and can't find the accurate way to test the clock spring
know when u remove it four pins come down onto the connector
but seeing they do i thought would help me , get the continuity reading
done the test with it out of the landy , made sure i moved it all the way round and was ok
really do appreciate the help with this and many thks
on to the rest if the system

The code says right hand air bags so by my thinking it has to be to do with the air bags and not the clock spring (may be wrong) I also think that there may still be an issue with the old ECU and new air bags not been compatible (ECU needs coding or re-setting perhaps) as it is still seeing the right hand air bags deployed.
There is a sight which will re-set/programme the ECU someone posted a link to it previously, if yo can find that link it may be worth a call to them as they may have some answers.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

hi russell
bless u for the reply
suppose i was clutching at straws abit
have indeed contacted 3 x airbag specialist companies
one told me to check the connectors under the seat and clock spring, but know we are well behind that
if i don't hear back will ring them
alas i think ur right as the code seems to indicate the firing command , if that makes sense
looks as though i will have to remove the ecu box, been trying to avoid it because of where it is fitted and getting the thing out
but wish to finally resolve this issue as i imagine it's not just driving me nuts but me keep posting questions
did try the iid and reset to service condition but alas i imagine. i've got to get the crash cleared
am dreading getting the box out

Old picture shows all faults, new ECU faults, does this make a difference to faults shown?L633 Defender
