Well I had the D3,, stornaway grey 09 plate a week now
As it came with new brakes all round ive had the wheels off , all calipers and hub centres on the disc's all painted black
spent all day brushing off a little surface rust and waxoyled the chassis and running gear
well pleased so far , cant believe I took so long to move from the D2
couple off things I noticed ,
1, the fuel tank bash plate is so rusty for a 6 year old truck
2, the alloys are painted with what is about as much good as emulsion , crap priming at manufacturing stage has led to a little paint lift on all all wheels
the spare has never been on and is just as bad if not worse, refurbishment on the horizon
the comet's on my old D2 were mint for 12 years old
next week its detailing time,
cheers
Phil

Cleared my engine management light having cleaned the throttle body & MAF sensor and replaced the PCV - hoping it stays off!
It has been asked before on here several times if it is comfortable to sleep in the back of a D3?
Well we decided to try it and yes it is and very comfortable it was as well!!
A double blow up mattress and a couple of duvets and we were as snug as a bug in a rug....!! I am 6ft and we are both not in the slim body type, plenty of room but you do need to have those front seats forward to fully stretch out........ 8)
Tips:
Move both seats fully forward for that extra room.
Lock the doors using the dash button and not the fob at sleep time. Stops the alarm being set.
Hang a cloth over the top tailgate lock to stop it locking closed. There is no interior release and it is the best way out for a night time pee...!!! 8)
Park one side towards the wind and leave the opposite side windows open an inch. Stops any condensation and lets some fresh air in. Rain will come in any gap windward side.......
Lower the suspension to access, it makes climbing in easier for us older folk.
A bungee strap across the two roof grab handles in the front and a beach/bath towel hung across gives privacy.
Don't buy an airbed with built in pillows.........not comfy at all....
Blow the airbed up softer than you think it should be..........once 2 people are on it you will be surprised how much it firms up.......
Dark tinted rear windows almost makes it impossible to see you in the rear........
We will be sleeping in it again!!!
All that you need for a morning brew.....
Cornwall.........wake up to views like this, only accessible using a D3 and a little local knowledge!!!
Just peace and quiet.......... ------------------------------

I always thought it would be comfortable with to sleep in with the right matress (and my own pillow I use every night). Nice to confirm that. That's a lovely view...

I did my bottle jack mod today. Took less than an hour of fiddling with the cutting using my Stanley knife. Fits perfect and taking it out and putting it back in there is no trouble. Just going to order the draper extendable today to fit in with the Jack.
Thanks to the guy who first done this mod and everyone else's tips.
Also learnt how to set my wing mirrors so they dip when I reverse.
This car is the best toy I've ever had.
Love doing the little mods and have a few more in mind for the future.
Can only build and make it better and better.

Swapped my tyres around today. Front right went on the back left and vice versa. The front are wearing at about double the rate of the rears as far as I can see. Scorpion Zeros and about half worn on the front after 15k miles.
I also tried to use my blue Sprinter bottle jack for the first time. Would it pump and elevate? No. I had to excavate my trolley jack from the depths of the garage. After I had finished lugging wheels around, I investigated the bottle jack. I just loosened the bleed screw and a fart of air came out after which jack was alright.
Bottle jack mod also done a few weeks ago but stupidly didn't test the jack at the time.

Detango of the front lights. Changed the side repeaters and fitted the rear lights that I had darkened with spray tint yesterday.
Feel all proud of myself now...

Most of us have removed the top of the sprinter jack and fitted it with a washer and split pin. Available from the forum shop.
