What Have You Done To Your Discovery Today?
Having searched the forum for similar thread and finding nothing, I thought I'd start one. Who knows, maybe it will have the highest post count on the forum?
I thought I'd kick it off with my activities today. With the Mot looming, I took the Discovery to my Mot tester to check out the rear bushes before I started working on the car. I'd already decide I'd change the front wishbones, track rods, and ends. The track rods had been advisories for the last two Mot's anyway. I only managed the nearside as the car did it's best to halt proceedings. I measured the bolt positions carefully before I started. Then things went down hill. Everything I touched wouldn't budge, except the inboard wishbone bolts which came out easily. These had been copper slipped at a previous wishbone change thankfully. However the drive shaft simply refused to move without masses of brute force. The lower ball joint took heating and beating to shift as did the rod end. I had to undo a bodge on the brake pipe bracket. The bolt was sheared off so a loose fitting zip tie was used instead. I drilled out the broken bolt, tapped a new thread and fitted a nice new bolt. Thankfully reassembly went OK . It took so long to do this side that I didn't get a chance to look at the offside, other than measure up ready for round two.
Shiny new bits.

Well since you asked,
Fitted a new intercooler, checked over the turbo, ordered a new top pulley and belt,
Washed it, painted the towbar, filled the washer bottle, topped up the antifreeze and oil.
Wait a minute that was all on my D2 TD5 does that count?
Well it should as you only asked what we've done to our discovery today, not our D3/4

Went round and lubricated every moving exterior part....including door handles that were slightly sticky, wing mirrors that juddered slightly when folding....all hinges on the doors, bonnet and tailgate, even the fuel filler cap....then I did all lock mechanisms with grease.
Then it got a good wash to get the overspray off....not a "big" job,but very satisfying "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
