Yes, it would work on the D4 if it uses the same cable guides. They are located on the rear lower arms.Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

Detent spring replacement and manual gearbox oil replacement. Why do I always seem to make such a meal of what looks so simple? Took me a couple of hours and I got covered in oil... then I took the car for a test drive and in my haste forget the waste oil container behind the passenger wheel...
Getting the 14mm hex out of the gearbox to do the spring took the longest time.-------------------------------------------------------------------

Fitted short roof rails today, nice and easy job. I've got a pair of front ARB bushes waiting to be fitted too, got to get myself a torque wrench first though...yet another expense

Just replaced my aux belt and tensioner. Nice and easy - took less than an hour.
Changed the worn EPB cable guides too.
If you do my mod, you'll not need to change them again for a very long time

Well more like yesterday, but I started to wire my roof lights up.
Only fixed the lights on the rack at Xmas , now got the switch mounted and the wiring for it down behind the steering wheel
