EPB SCREACH
I have the screach of death!!!
I have new disks and I have adjusted and adjusted and adjusted my drum brakes and still screeches. I came across this thread. Can any one tell me if my EPB need winding back up? I'm a bit lost to what I'm winding!

Here it is almost fully unwound. You can clearly see the brass rod unwound on the threaded rod:

Once you are happy you have unwond it enough, push the 2 side of the cables together to relatch. Compare the metal parts to the right hand side of the small white plastic box between this picture and the next:

I got the dreaded screech yesterday afternoon and spent a few hours unjamming the EPB control unit and cleaning and adjusting the brake shoes

So I spent a few hours under the car yesterday! I unwound the epb. And readjusted the brakes.
It no longer screeches. It just winds and unwinds constantly! Any ideas what this could be?

If you have used the emergency brake release have you remembered to relatch the cable?
I had to adjust mine a couple of times and do the set up and application of the EPB at a certain speed procedure a number of times before it started to lock the rear brakes
I left the cover of until I had finished just in case it locked again and when I went to put the cover back on the brass sleeve was sticking out evenly on either side of the white gear boxCurrent:

I didn't use the emergency release. How do I check if it's still latched?
I'm tightening the adjuster so the hub locks then turn the screw back 8 clicks is that what every one else recommends?

If you haven't used the emergency release it should still be connected
Best thing to do is follow the procedures on pages 27, 28 & 32 of Bodsys brake bible - I think it's referred and linked to in this thread and it's in the wiki ðŸ‘Current:

A few extra tips, for people doing it from the rear
Aussie spec 2.7 diesel, RHD
When you are positioned in the spare tyre space, and looking forward, an electrical harness runs along the bottom of the EPB support plate, 3 plastic fasteners need to be popped out, just use a large screwdriver, they pop back in no problem.
A metal cable bracket is attached to the right of the EPB bracket, the bracket needs to be detached, it is held by 1 10mm bolt, with this detached, the EPB bracket can be removed.
The EPB module has 2 electrical connectors that need to be detached as well, with the RHS wheel removed, they are easily accessed and detached, working from the wheel well
With the module fully detached from the car, the module can be easily rotated 180 degrees, to access the cover plate.
After unjamming the EPB, it only took about 10 minutes to reassemble everything to original.

So my EPB looks like this. (See pic) I think it's unwound and and functioning correctly.
I have cleaning and adjusted my shoes. I have tried everything from 8 to 3 turns. The EPB does not screach. It just winds in and out. I can sit under the truck and watch it.
I lost to what it can be! I've followed the images played around a lot! Am I missing something wen it comes to applying the brake from the first time. (I'm putting the fuse back in and applying the brake)
Is there a set down procedures.

3 months I've been putting this off as the dealer quoted me $1750 parts and $450 labour... Almost traded the car in for a new one that how much it was getting to me.
All fixed now, took me 5 hours without a hoist and at the last struggle of trying to release the brass it finally let loose just as I was about to throw the towel in literally.
As i was working on my garage floor I did find it 'easier' to reach the unit by unbolting the 2 10mm nuts by removing the spare tyre.
All in all MUCH APPRECIATED..... Ver thankful to your writeup.
