Hi DM and any other gurus , this may sound like a stupid question. But is there any need or advantage to lubricating. the brass rod with copper grease or anti seize lubricant?
I have read most of the posts in this thread and may have missed this information, i would be glad of any feedback as I am replacing my rear discs and pads tomorrow and maybe repairing my EPB.
My EPB has screamed twice and seized on once, is this likely to have caused the module to fail?

So from reading through all the messages , I open the EPB and unwind the brass till its fully open and that should do the trick?
Thanks

Meant to post this here, but posted it first in your original thread:
Bob.
Sounded like you've had screechers and it isn't currently jammed.
If it isn't jammed currently I'd start with the adjustment at the brake drum (per Bodsy's brake bible) before doing anything at the EPB module itself.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

I followed Disco Mikey's tutorial on mine last weekend.
I originally wanted to get a local garage to do this for me, but none of them wanted to do it. Only replace it.
I thought i had nothing to loose to give it a try myself.
Not really difficult, just fiddly.
Did it with the back up on axle stands and a good torch.
Your working with the rear diff in your face and arm wrapped around it to get to the handbrake module.
take the T20 torx screws out with a bit in a small 1/4" drive ratchet.
The hardest part for me was getting the siliconed cover off. I used a short(ish) flat screwdriver on the bottom left corner. i found i had something to pry against here.
Once the cover is off remove the 4x bolts which hold the module bracket on by working in the spare wheel well. Mine were very rusty and took some oil and working to get them out. Then tilt the module toward the front of the car and down. Without doing this i could find no way of getting anything in to grip the brass rod.
I freed the brass rod by tapping it with a small hammer and an old screwdriver. Mine only took 3 light taps to free it off.
I then ran the un-jam program on the Nanocom which rewound the brass rod back.
Every time i ran the "move to latching position" program it made an horrific noise and jammed itself again.
Once wound to the left it took a little force to re-latch the two halves together again.
I removed the rear discs and found my brake shoe mechanism was full of mud from my previous weekends off roading frolics. I took the jet wash to them. Not sure if this was a good idea, but it did a good job. I cleaned up the shoes surface and drum surface and adjusted the shoes according to Bodsey's brake bible.
After testing the handbrake successfully a few times i re-fitted the module cover with some silicone rubber.
100% success, even if it did take me all day.
Been fine for a week now, with no strange noises.
I cant thank Mikey enough for this thread.

Hi all I'm going to attempt this next week. I'm from the dark side RRSport.co.uk. My module has jammed up and sounds like a cat being killed under the car. Last weekend I followed Bodsey's bible and replaced rear shoes, pads and discs and adjusted. I still have the dreaded scream thing lol.......
Any how my question is before attempting this do you have to strip all the brakes again to release the park brake cables from the shoes ??? Or can I just get her up on a ramp and remove the module cover to release.

Massive thanks' to Disco Mikey, took mine to my local indie today ( as he had a suitable ramp ) we went by the Disco Mikeys thread and WULLU it unjammed and is as good as new. TBH I replaced all the rear discs pads and shoes and EPB is really quite now
Again massive thanks to Mikey and this site for helping all us enthusiasts who enjoy our cars.
