Feel free to buy one and try , but I’d put money on it that is dosent work !
As said , freelander one looks the same but doesn’t work
i believe you straight away, that's why i asked it..
and flashing it, will presumably not work in de D3 since the right firmware for a D4 is not available then..
no issue for me anymore since i bought the correct partnumber yesterday here on the forum.
still did not find the definitive answer however, if it (D4 bluetooth) will solve the phonebook (not visable) issue on my D4 screen fitted in my D3, although i can see the phone book displayed on the "radio" screen
although i have the "latest" software flashed to the D3 module..
It will get itself confused as it’s not supposed to display in 2 placesG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Wiggs I would just like to express my gratitude to you. I read all the information you and other members posted and decided to tackle installing Bluetooth in my D3. After purchasing all the parts including a D4 module, switch pack for steering wheel, mic etc etc, I now have a great factory fit hands free kit. Thanks you and others for sharing your knowledge

how did you manage with the CCF file to 'toggle' on the bluetooth module, did you get someone to sort it for you ?
I am just sourcing bits now, so looking forward to getting it working soon.
Great forum and guys are really useful and helpful.

I bought myself a second hand gap IID tool to edit the ccf files. Great tool that’s already paid for itself when the dash lights came on and suspension lowered its self. Reading the fault codes and using this forum I found a small wire broke. Repaired it and back to normal. The tool is expensive but worth every penny.

And i suppose the IID tool is locked to your car VIN....!?!
I initially bought a icarsoft LR 2 diagnostic tool and as much as it has helped diagnose the faulty parking sensors etc, it hasnt got the capability of changing CCF files.
Might have to sell and and buy an IID tool or get an indie to update the file.
I wont have the hardware in place in for a couple of weeks anyway.
Where did you attach the module ? (Rear quarter) and did you buy/make the MOST cable to join into the existing MOST loop ?
Apolgies for lots of questions.......

The tool is locked to the vin but I believe you can unlock additional vehicles for a cost with Gap. It really is a great tool.
I didn’t have Bluetooth to start so there was no point running cables to the back. The unit is behind the trim in the passenger footwell as per instructions on this forum (sorry can’t remember which one as I’ve read so many).
The most splitter cable was bought from flea bay. Fits Mercedes etc. I used a power cable with DuPont connections for the power lead. Happy to help as others helped me!

What is the process of re-wiring the MOST cable to fit the new module into the series circuit ?
I have bought a spare MOST cable off the internet, but it will need adapting so that I can change around the MOST in/out wire directions etc.
I'm hoping that the bullet connectors can be removed from the black male plug so they can be changed around to integrate into the module wiring either side.
What is the best way to do this ?
Any info appreciated.

Thanks motolab, i understand the principle and appreciate the wiring diagram.
i just wanted to know the 'physical' process of getting out the old bullet connectors from the male plastic and swapping them around.

Managed to sort out the bullet connectors.
You have to prise out the white rectangular plastic tab (this holds the optical fibre cables in position on one side). then you lift up the little black retaining clip whilst pulling on the cable.
the bullet connector/cable then simply pulls out.

D4 module for D3 with 0000 bluetooth PIN
Hi guys, I am after some help as a new member and D3 owner. I have a 2005 HSE with H&K L7 and Bluetooth (uses 0000 code) and phone buttons on steering wheel. However, it says phone is connected and I get audio (dialling tone - ring, ring) through the speakers when I dial out BUT when the call connects the audio drops and the radio comes back on. Call stays connections but the caller nor me can hear each other (from the phone or the car system).
- Does this suggest the Bluetooth module needs reprogramming?
- Second question is if I wanted to upgrade to D4 Bluetooth, can I do that if its not factory fitted (2121 code)?
- Finally, If I can then can some confirm what exactly I need to buy please? Seems to be 2x types of module:
Thanks and sorry if this has been covered - I cant seem to be able to find the answer.

1, the module you have cannot be reprogrammed
2, yes you can , but you’d need to remove all the aftermarket wiring loom that you have fitted
3, you’d need to add a most cable / d4 module / power cable .. you would also need to get the car config file changed to tell the car the factory kit is fitted
You can use the existing steering wheel buttons and mic
